I don't wish to partake in that debate, however does it really matter whom we sign ? Players who were signed to supposedly offer an attacking threat have either not started straight away or have started and then been benched. We could sign Ronaldo and Messi and we would still play the 'Hodgson way'.I am not actually sure they would be thrust into the team from the start.

They get more in a week than I get in two years. It’s staggering isn’t it the amount they are paid. Then they have the f@cking audacity to raise their arms when kneeling as if they are some kind of victim. They drive to the games in Bentleys just to sit on the bench whist half the fans struggle to find the cash to pay their gas bills. I used to like it years ago when footballers would retire and buy pubs etc. Now days they are financially set for life by their early twenties.

Batshuayi contributes nothing in the build-up play and I suspect that Ayew and Benteke are more Hodgson type players. As for Eze, he operated mainly as a No 10 at QPR and he was deployed more centrally in a free role.We don't play that way under Hodgson. He has got quality but he has been erratic and unorthodox and on his day he can be unplayable but the problem is he hasn't always hit these heights.Doesn't seem a player who ticks a lot of boxes as far as Hodgson is concerned.

He did also play a lot on the left for them drifting inwards. Not always just as an out and out number 10. I believe we'll find a place for him in a similar way RLC played for us when he was here. I agreed with the decision to play Schlupp yesterday as it provided some cover against the flying Lamptey. What I couldn't believe that after 60 mins (also clear from about the 10th minute tbh) was how obvious having 2 up front was a complete waste of time as we could barely get the ball to either. So sacrificing either and bringing on Eze would have made perfect sense for me. But what do I know.

His manager at QPR, Mark Warburton likes to change formations during a game and he looks at chances created in a game not at the possession statistics. He also does not like his players to shoot from 30 yards, the maximum he allows is around 22 yards.

Wishing we'd have taken a look at Lookman on loan after seeing the Fulham game yesterday. We'll get a closer look at him next week but I'm sure he'll be licking his lips after our performance yesterday.

Theoretically this should make us feel good, nearly winning when we played so badly....., but somehow it doesn't.....
