If you think the US Justice Dept are "frothing loons" then you would be right. That the ignorant and the gullible are more concerned with sports results and celebrity tittle-tattle won't help Trump too much if he is sitting in jail.

Justice is blind to popular sentiment. Other than in the Supreme Court when packed with Trump nominees, of course.

Trump has gone, let it go!! You should worry more about the old duffer that is Biden, he cant even tell the difference between Sweden and Switzerland!!!, yet he has his finger on the button of half the worlds nukes!!

He doesn’t know his arse from his elbow so working out fingers and toes could be challenging. He is literally straight out of the original spitting image. Shame he came so late really as they would have destroyed him

Regrettably, he is far from gone. He might no longer be President, but a significant minority believe he should be, encouraged by the lies he told, and continues to tell. Whether he runs in 2024 or not, he still has a huge amount of influence over that once great party, the Republicans, whose ethics are now seriously compromised.

So no, "letting it go" is absolutely the wrong thing to do. His corrupt, perhaps even traitorous, behaviour needs to be fully exposed and, if thought sufficient evidence exists, tested in a Court. Trying to usurp democracy must never be swept under the carpet.

Don't worry about Biden. He is a collegiate President who listens to advice from real experts before taking decisions. His presentation style may show his age, but he is not a loose cannon like Trump. The USA is having to deal with the same issues as the rest of the west, so he is bound to have the fallout dumped on his shoulders.

I'd prefer DeSantis, but if Trump wins in 2024 it's kind of karma for fruitcakes like this. He supported Biden and the world is suffering for that right now.

As for Jan 6th.

Leftist discourse in the US 2022.

I'm not sure which of them is actually worse.

I have never "supported" Biden! I opposed Trump. What I said back then, and say again now, is that Trump needed to go and just about anyone with an ounce of decency, integrity and respect for the law would be better. I also said Biden was a short term bridge to change, who would be trusted by enough to make that change. I would have preferred one of the other candidates, but ridding the world of Trump was the priority.

The world is certainly suffering, but much more as a result of Putin, not Biden. Biden is catching the backlash, as any sitting POTUS would, from the ignorant determined to attach blame. Clearing up the mess left by Trump, dealing with a world supply chain crisis as a consequence of the pandemic, and an energy crisis caused by a megalomanic is beyond the capacity of any administration to handle without pain. To ladle the blame onto its figurehead is daft, but US politics is daft. I thought we were better than that, but some, clearly, aren't.

Trump, Cruz, DeSantis? What an awful choice. What a sorry state of affairs that a once great party looks likely to being asked to decide between three self-serving rat-bags who compete not on their capacity to lead their country in a crusade on the moral high ground but in one which seeks to return it to a time, and attitudes, that have no place in the modern world.

Any one of these would hasten the USA's plunge into chaos. The problem is that with so many feeling discomfort, the way memories quickly fade, and the never-ending stupidity of people to fall for the promises of con-men they could well succeed.

Exposing Trump's involvement in the Jan 6th riots and, more importantly, the overall plan to overturn the election result, is ever more important.

Those who try to conflate the protests and subsequent rioting in various cities with the Jan 6th attack on democracy are deliberately blowing smoke. Both are serious, but only one involves a fundamental attack on democracy by a sitting POTUS. To compare them is risible.

The Capitol attack 'lasted a couple of hours' because the stated intention to hang and kill those who were certifying the result of the election escpaed to a secured location. They weren't being sought out for a slow dance, and depsite very mixed intentions of those in the building, if they'd have come across our elected representatives it seems reasonable to believe that some of them would have probably been held hostage or killed.

That's not to say that the wild community destroying displays across the country were anything other than repugnant either, and defend the police effort luducrous. They're not really particularly comparable events, as one relates to a lawlessness and violence within communities, and the other a push on grass roots level, and arguably now as high as the supreme court going forward (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/jun/30/us-supreme-court-state-elections-legislatures) to not recognise election results, or to throw it open to 'interpretation' at local level.. which is bound to lead to results that do not reflect voter intention and potentially the end of democracy stateside being hastened.
