This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle No one is really talking about contingencies if Wilf were to get injured. If he stays, as I hope he does in spite of what his talent deserves, then we would need to be certain that we have enough depth in our squad to ensure we can (in part) fill his boots whilst he is here. Replacing Wilf would be hard, but are we seriously looking to contend in the PL when the depth of our squad offers the likes of Ayew and Alexander Sloth? I am hoping that we can grab a couple of lower league gems like Ollie Watkins for example and see how they fair. I was disappointed we weren't in for Lookman this window and Andre Gray in whatever window that was. All this potentially alongside Wilf to bolster rather than maintain.
So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet. |

Sorry everyone. Hey, I feel a bit queasy too after looking at a smartphone for any length of time, but you are the first person I've ever 'heard' to say that they suffer from it. AND I lived in Erith for 36 years....!

We need this done quickly, so we can move on. As long as Arsenal do the decent thing and pay what we want, I will happy with that. Our pre- season looks like it is turning into a car crash. Without any contingency plan in replacing AWB and Wilf and less than a few weeks of the window to go, I think the writing is on the wall. Let the “ wait and see brigade “ clear their throats, but they are living in dreamland. I don't agree, the closer we get to the transfer window closing, the more chance of holding on to Zaha for another year, also i can't see Perish selling Zaha with in a week of the window shutting and not having time to get a suitable replacement, he is not going to go out and buy just anybody for the sake of getting any old replacement.

He is a black man who grew up in London during some of their successful years. Arsenal is THE main club for black men due to having successful black players dating back to Michael Thomas and David Rocastle, Ian Wright (puke). If you asked every year group at Palace which club they supported, you’d be lucky if you found 10% being palace fans. Wilf was here through dark times under Jordan and one season in the Prem. Not really the same dream as playing for Arsenal who were on tv all the time challenging Man Utd and succeeding. Sadly for Wilf they’re sh1t compared to then and have no ambition to spend or anything more than fleece the fans who’ve just reached the front of the season ticket waiting list, unless thousands don’t renew or boycott Arsenal. I wonder how much thought he gave to his 'love' of Arsenal when he agreed to join their arch rivals Manchester United

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Without direct quotes from Wilf / Steve Parish, it's hard to decipher what's really going on. But if I was a cynic I would say that it's been a classic case of a player agitating for a move by allowing speculation to mount via third parties. I said a few weeks ago that if this turns really messy then Wilf could suffer a backlash from the fans and it seems to be heading in that direction. I don't begrudge him a move, but....he was happy enough to sign a big, long term deal a year ago. If it's his '' dream '' to play for Arsenal, strange timing on his part as that club are in transition and not playing in the Champions League. And speaking of timing...this should all of come out at the end of last season, not now. Palace move slowly enough in the transfer market without the additional pressure of trying to find a replacement with the new season not far away.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Nobody except Wilf and the club knows whats really going on behind the scenes but Id like to think that he is just trying to pressure the owners into signing some quality players. Deep down I don't think he wants to go anywhere but at this present moment the club is showing zero ambition and that does not match his own. Let's just hope we make a couple of big signings very soon and that is enough is to keep him happy. There is no point in signing players for the sake of it but our current scouting system looks very flawed. We never seem to be able to unearth a hidden gem.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle With only 20 days to go its too late for Wilf to go whatever the fee, if he has to go it has to be straight after the end of next season, he has too be told that, Parish has to put the club first, he has already stated that both AWB and Wilf will not be sold in the same window, Wilfs wants are irrelevant.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |
