Moodys has just downgraded UK Credit Outlook from 'stable' to 'negative': UK also has one of the largest budget deficits among advanced economies...thanks to Osborne's ceaseless borrowing to date.

An entirely misleading headline, surprise surprise. There is no reason why the 10bn saving from leaving the EU cannot be issued even more efficiently than EU funding. On a separate note which way did you vote Nick? Sorry I mean have you signed petition 131215 yet? You know a counter petition to 131215 is on the way.
VOTING OUT - Brexit will allow Britain to embrace the Commonwealth and be GREAT again |

Interesting times ahead. Need time for remainers to get over what happened then hopefully all pull together to build a UK (if it doesn't disintegrate with Sinn Fein pushing for a united Ireland as part of the EU and Scotland gaining independence) that isn't corporocentric (made up word of the day) I'm hoping that the Spanish left win tomorrow and the European project fragments because of disaffection across Europe. This is the only chink of light I can see.

I am quite optimistic about the future, once we have negotiated our exit & we continue to have freedom of movement across Europe, businesses agree new trade deals etc & with no EU interference we can look into freedom of movement among the main players of the Commonwealth (something Boris has supported for years) It could give us the best of both worlds. minimum wages NZ - $15.25 Edited by Ouzo Dan (25 Jun 2016 10.39am)

No one knows for sure what will happen long term. My guess is that we'll look at EU in 5/10/20 years and think 'thank God we got out when we did', and that's if there's even one left to look at. I'm not sure why the kids are panicking so much about not being able to work in Europe in the future. I'd guess about 1% of them could work over there now due to the lack of jobs, and I think that'll only worsen. If they've got the skills to get a decent job out there, they'll get a work visa anyway. The markets/pound etc were always going to get hit due to uncertainty, and they've had an extra impact from all the gambling that we'd remain. The effects have been no where near as bad as predicted. We can now be a global country instead of just a European one, without any restrictions put on us. Edited by Rubin (25 Jun 2016 10.40am)

You carry on like a schoolboy. I promise you that the Sun will still come up tomorrow.Try to put things into some sort of perspective and don't assume that you will live longer than me because judging by the way you worry about things I wouldn't be so sure. How's your blood pressure? You clearly have had very little adversity in your life if you go into a tail spin so easily.

I still predict that, despite all the menacing words from Brussels (and I understand why they are saying what they are saying), a deal will be offered to Britain by he EU and we will have another referendum in a year or so to ratify that deal. There is too much at stake for many of the players in this to allow Brexit and contagion to happen. This is completely unprecedented territory. Yes Greenland left he EU in the eighties but there is a World of difference between that and this situation. I still view this as a massive protest vote. The devil will be in the detail and the strength of the negotiating team.

Edited by Rubin (25 Jun 2016 10.40am) To be fair, no one knew when we were in the EU what would happen with our financial future. The good news is we are in charge now, well in two years we will be.

Recession later this year almost inevitable, and 4-5 years of uncertainty yet to feed in to the markets fully. Who knows what will happen in 5 years time. I feel that economically we'll be ok eventually, but we're in for a major bumpy ride meanwhile, and anyone retiring in the next few years or looking to borrow money may rue the outcome of the referendum. There were the people who primarily voted for Brexit through I think you will find. Yes its possible that they are wrong and its all one big mistake, however people do tend to lookout for their own interests while voting. I suspect many people in that age group were reasonably confident about the effects on their retirement.
