Certainly immigration puts a downward pressure on wages which is why the puppet masters who control the EU so desperately want it to continue.

But there is no way that people are worse off than 50, 100 or 200 years ago.

There definitely has been progress, but numerous measures show that this has slipped in the last 20 years (not all but quite a lot of them)

Interesting to note that despite expectations Theresa May is promising to increase government intervention, rather than rein it in.

Presumably she feels able to isolate some of the libertarian right because of the perceived weakness of the Labour opposition, but again just like with Hammond there is definitely a heavy whiff of New Labour in much of the policy she is alluding to.

Seems Corbyn waited for May's speech before releasing a press statement.

“Conservative Party leaders have sunk to a new low this week as they fan the flames of xenophobia and hatred in our communities and try to blame foreigners for their own failures.

This is what socialists do when we replace "xenophobia" with "envy" and "foreigners" with "people who have more"

“Conservative Party leaders have sunk to a new low this week as they fan the flames of xenophobia and hatred in our communities and try to blame foreigners for their own failures.

“Drawing up lists of foreign workers won’t stop unscrupulous employers undercutting wages in Britain. Shutting the door to international students won’t pay young people’s tuition fee debts, and ditching doctors from abroad won’t cut NHS waiting lists.

“The Conservatives will instead foster division and discrimination in our workplaces and communities.

“Once again, they are making false promises on immigration they can’t deliver. Instead of turning people against each other, ministers should take action now to deal with the real impact of migration.

“They should stop the abuse of migrant labour to undercut pay and conditions, which would reduce numbers.

“They should support communities with high levels of migration and they should set out a positive agenda for fair migration rules as part of the Brexit negotiations for a new relationship with the European Union.”
Wonder if the papers and other media will bother to run with it...

Oh the old politics of envy chestnut.

Usually used by those who agree with those who support those that engage in the politics of greed.

Do like Corbyns reply and suggestions.

To me the increase in 'hate crime' is a result of the Brexit leave campaign by it has arisen since then.

We are a nastier country now IMO.

Out dated scruff, Islington dining set any more?

The links I post links to generally counter an argument. They don't just come out with a list of hackneyed clichés that don't actually give a point of view.

There is a difference.

As for using exploitation and racism in his press release, well what would you call paying some immigrants and then blaming them for it to deflect from the fact is?

Well why is it was wrong to ask firms the ethnic origins of their workforce,(fill out any format nowadays and you have to tick a box.
If there were not so many immigrants to take the jobs then maybe just maybe the companies would have to pay the going rates.
And for him to say the tories are making promises on immigration that they can't deliver.
Corbyn has said he would have a total open door policy.
How's that Mr gristle.
