How about playing with a bit of pride for a start?

Do you enjoy us playing abysmal football? Oh yeah it's all the players' fault.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Once they start peddling it’s the players not the manager line the conversation is null and void for me. As the poor performances stack up their argument becomes less and less coherent. Yes we can accept the players are in the twilight of their careers, that also means there’s a bell of a lot of experience in that team and they should not be producing these performances. For me the players are not playing for him any longer. Perhaps the drab, outdated football has got to the players now too.

What exactly is our tactical approach this season?
It may not have been great to watch in the last couple of seasons, but there was a method to our play.
Keep the shape , close the spaces, don’t overcommit players forward, keep it tight.
We weren’t great offensively but rarely looked vulnerable defensively.
Many of us joked how often the games would remain 0-0 during the first half with little given away.
This season I’m not sure what our approach is.
In five recent games we have conceded early goals, there are huge gaps for opposition to exploit, we look vulnerable to every cross and set piece.
We have the second worst defensive record in the league and are suffering heavy defeats unlike previous seasons.
Hodgson seems clueless as to how to stop the rot.
He’s admitted he’s virtually thrown in the towel after going 2-0 down in the two recent defeats.
This is a shocking admission.
Either the players aren’t buying into his methods anymore, or his methods aren’t working.
The situation cannot be allowed to drift and a parting of the ways at the end of the season would seem an appropriate course of action.

I'm glad Roy is coming out and saying the players aren't good enough or they've not shrugged off the one man team tag. It means cracks are starting which will open the door to his exit. The reason we arent playing well is down to his tactics of 4-bore-2 that doesn't suit us and his resilience to playing people like dann and luka who aren't better than the bench.

29/30 is not the twighlight of players careers.

McArthur, Cahill, and Dann are in the twilight of their careers. Only one was on the pitch yesterday. Burnley had an older average age.

The only difficulty with Roy going at the end of the season is that we are going to be in transition. A couple of wins will see us safe so we could reasonably bring someone in to oversee this at an early stages of us bringing in Mateta, Reidwald, Eze as a greater focal points for the team. We clearly need to decide who will stay and I am concerned that some players ability will not be best shown by Roy’s tactics.
I think next year could be difficult. So preparing early will help. Please do not think I am against Roy he has done wonders but has become more defensive over time and the players are not fully responding which is reflected in our terrible goal difference.

When has he said that as I haven't heard or read that from him and in fact it was only a couple of weeks ago that he stated that he was happy with his squad

The club will obviously not be motivated to sack Roy at this juncture of his career. A similar performance against Brighton or heavy defeat I think he’s in the firing line. I’m dreading the Brighton game.

The 14 point cushion that’s been mentioned would be ideal timing for a new manager to come in, acclimatise, asses the players and settle into the club before the summer. This summer is massive for us. Many of the players we are saying we may just renew may not want to stay.

I don't understand people saying 4-4-2 is boring and that he insists on playing it.
We played 4-3-3 for previous seasons and it was just as tedious and boring and people were calling for it to change (me included) and in some cases to a 4-4-2 system.
I just think that it's not the system per se but the way we are so rigid and don't have any freedom or fluidity to our play. I'd rather we went long at times than playing it about at the back and midfield and going nowhere.
Get the ball forward, into the box and win the second balls in the final third and we may actually score some goals!

Something has gone very badly wrong, that’s so obvious , but this set of players, has to be in question every bit as much as the management.
There has rarely been a time when , take Wilf, Thomps, Mc,A, out, and the team can cope, in any competition. Not cup or league, It’s not new, it’s happened in most seasons it’s just got just worse.
No manager sends teams out to let in early goals game on game, No experienced group of players should not be able to go a long way to sorting that kind of problem themselves.
No one can say any longer it’s Roy’s extreme organised brand that is the problem. Burnley , should have been a tough game for both teams. If Roy’s organisation had been in play Burnley wouldn’t have got any of those goals, and it would have been a tough game going narrowly one way or the other. It certainly was not that.
Change manager is only a sticking plaster , if that lot are happy to play like that. All of the old bad habits were on show yesterday , bad positioning, poor marking, s*** passing ,even when not pressured, weak tackling , slow build ups, slow thinking to opportunities, it’s endless.
Only the players know why they are finding it so hard to apply themselves to using talents they, as long time pro,s should have become second nature.
A huge good luck to whoever ends up managing this lot whether that’s Roy or someone else.

It’s been reported today that we’re in for Steve Cooper of Swansea.
He has a very good track record although untried at Premier level.
It would be a yes from me.
