However, my points stand.

As his name was Maurice this doesn’t get us very far. That surprised me so I looked it up. Unless I am missing something, whilst both his father and one of his sons were called Maurice, he wasn't.

Fair enough. It wasn't mentioned in the biography I found so can't be that well known. My 90 year old brother was actually christened Charles, after our father, but is known as Anthony, his second name, on every record. It seems to have been a common practice at one time.

It is pretty well known. It’s also pretty common among Prime Ministers. Robert Eden, James Wilson, Arthur Chamberlain, James Brown, Leonard Callaghan. Alexander Johnson.

Kudos to Stirlingsays. Well he can pat himself on the back he correctly predicted that if the Democrats won power the first thing they would do is dial back all the BLM anti police rhetoric. And guess what President Obama has just said. I will also pat myself on the back for pointing out that the BLM protestors were stupid for voting for people who were in charge of their city and so were the problem not the solution. I wonder if those people are now feeling a teensy weensy bit betrayed. Edited by Badger11 (03 Dec 2020 8.35am)

They have offered support for the sentiment behind the idea that "black lives matter" but not for the political movement known as BLM. They have offered support for those wishing to protest and express their anger at police brutality and have called for more training. That some local officials have gone further and talked about "defunding the Police" as a tactic to force change doesn't mean that is a policy approved at the centre. They have condemned the violence shown by those who sought to exploit the situation, some of which had all the hallmarks of an "agent provocateur" operation. The rhetoric has all come from Trump and his campaign as they sought every opportunity to make links that don't exist. Just as the Democrats are now borderline communists, they are also now rioters who destroy the cities and want to defund the Police. These things are just more lies and another reminder of quite how bad these last 4 years have been. All Obama is doing is sounding a sensible warning to those on the fringes of his Party not to allow themselves to be used in that way, so the sensible, quiet work that is needed to restore peace and confidence can proceed unhindered.

This is just Initial 'feeler' sent out from Democrat HQ, or where the power really lays, to gauge the reaction to dumping all these movements.

Just as a member of the KKK was always going to vote for Trump because there is no other place to go, so will the nutty left vote Democrat. It doesn't mean that either main party supports these views though. The Democrats at a Party level distanced themselves rather more aggressively from their nutjobs than Trump did with his. Their voice was though rather drowned out by all the rhetoric coming from the Trump campaign.

His speech has been greeted with contempt by almost everyone, other than his "base", who were the real audience. Even by Fox. Who are questioning his grip on reality. He is grifting. Raising funds for his dubious future and preparing pardons for his family.
