It’s good to know that constructive criticism of government policy is alive and well here and we don’t see comments reminiscent of the 4th form!
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

The tax is coming folks. Labour's transparent excuses will not hide what we all know. Tax and spend, stupid pay rises for the public sector, and all the usual Labour stuff. Same old Labour. People never learn. It will be scandalous if they increase inheritance tax.

Rachel Reeves - shock horror - there is a £20billion/year black hole to be able to do what THEY want to do - taxes will have to rise but blame those useless Tories.

As I said to you the other day; the options we have are to bring in more taxpayers or for the existing population to pay more tax - being completely opposed to both isn't a realistic position.

They have taken the existing deficit and then added in what they have promised the voters to do and surprise surprise the numbers don't add as as all the experts predicted before the GE. Frankly they have conned the voters. I would have had more respect for Labour if they had made this clear during the election. The Govt needs to stop blaming the previous govt now, they had access to the books months ago. They are not in opposition anymore and are expected to find solutions. A blind man could see the manifesto " costed " funding was inadequate. Example 1, the money required to settle the doctors strike which was not included
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Most of the extra tax would be squandered in similar ways to existing tax. It's like giving whisky to an alcoholic (via a tap). Edited by georgenorman (26 Jul 2024 12.37pm)

We have the best part of a million vacancies in the public sector - you are opposed to immigration, opposed to any meaningful pay rises, opposed to any tax increases. Just saying no to everything is not going to solve anything.

Just saying no to everything is not going to solve anything. So you think that the number of migrants arriving here are necessary and acceptable? Funny because many of them seem to be claiming benefits and or running their own tax avoiding businesses. There is selective immigration and what we have.
