I am more worried about what is going on in canada than ukraine to be perfectly honest.

I also dont trust anything in west side of the media anymore. If only NATO and the EU left ukraine alone Russia would back down. simply as!

The EU and US need to be taken down a peg or two.

You are so right.

Amen to that. 100%. And in Putin, you have a man who wanted a closer relationship with Europe. Who mooted Russia even joining NATO. Who wants to help Europe not be so dependent on non-European sources of energy. And who looks at what is going on in nations such as ours with the attacks on traditionalism and makes his despair clear.

No more brother-wars. I loathe the thought of Ukrainians and Russians fighting against each other. But the people pulling the strings in the West are not people who want a positive outcome for European civilisation.

Putin is far more in line with us on the Right than almost anything we have in a position of power in the West right now.

Regardless of all the other factors, an invasion of a sovereign country in Europe is a big no no.

I'm sure many in this country were sympathetic to Hitler before WW2 and look how well that turned out.

One of the few sensible posts on this thread.

Not so simple. The 8m ethnic Russians in Ukraine are coming under pressure from Ukrainian nationalists at Russia both feels that pressure and spots an opportunity. Leaving Russia to get on with it did not stop the effective annexation of Crimea.

By way of contrast, Estonia has a positive integration programme. It provides free summer camps to Estonian citizens and diaspora to encourage them to learn the Estonian language and culture. But nobody is forced to participate, it’s just made into a fun holiday.

So you think Putin is Hitler? You think our existence is at risk? You think Putin wants nuclear war? Seriously?

As for the 'sovereign' stuff, as I said Nato already did this itself in Europe in Serbia....Nato was responsible for somewhere between 500 civilians deaths and thousands fighting that war.

Ok, look I'm not going to argue with my own side. If you think that it's light versus dark then sure go ahead.

I'll just side with the parts of Ukraine than aren't Russian.

Yes, I pretty much think it is light versus dark. Putin is a little Hitler and he will keep threatning and taking over his neighbours if the West lets him - just like big Hitler did.

I think we're all agreed that Putin is a dangerous thug. An extraordinarily vain megalomaniac. And probably slightly deranged.

I started the thread because I was beginning to feel worried about what was unfolding in Ukraine. I'm more worried now.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Same here.

Although I always get an elevated sense of anxiety the closer we get to kick off. Hopefully we'll get the win over Watford, can sit down in the Winchester with a nice cold pint and wait for all this Ukraine/Russia nonsense to blow over.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
