Well from a very rough tally of the comments so far, we seem to have almost twice as many dislikes as likes. It really IS a Marmite kit though, with the vast majority either in favour or absolutely hating it. Marmite is 50-50, this one's more like 90-10, so I'd say it's more Chicken Bovril than Marmite

I wonder if the new stand will be diagonal as well, bit like the leaning tower of Pisa

as a kit, of a sporting team, it's just fine... as a kit a kid wants to wear out on the pitch... it's fine... as an adult.. wearing it as more like a fashion statement, it's average.. the eyes get pulled along with the diagonal lines. As a representation of the club, it's a misstep.

What amuses me about this new shirt thing, and I am easily amused, is how many say they dislike it and certainly wouldn't buy one. Well chaps, fact is the shirt wasn't designed with you in mind. Anyway, most blokes look naff going out in a football shirt that has been designed to make a statement on the pitch, worn by our top ten players at Selhurst Park. I never understood the fad for wearing the club shirt to matches. How about you save your hard earned, get a red and blue scarf, a rattle, a cloth cap and a pipe and go retro.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Looks great, modern with a hint of a sash. Having a plain old sash is just outdated, hints of league 1 or league 2. Hopefully we'll never see that again. Edited by Orange1290 (04 Aug 2021 7.40pm)

I never understood the fad for wearing the club shirt to matches. How about you save your hard earned, get a red and blue scarf, a rattle, a cloth cap and a pipe and go retro. Normally I'd completely agree with you Old Geezer. I can't remember the last time I really liked one of our kits, not once I got past 21 years of age anyway, and even if I really liked a kit we brought out I probably wouldn't buy it - I'm not a replica shirt kind of guy. Usually I shrug at the new kit and forget about it. However... This one is so very bad that for the first time I'm actually annoyed at having to watch the team play in it. I dislike it so much that I've taken a minute to consider why. I think it's three things: 1. It's just so s*** looking. Even if you'd never seen a football kit before in your life and you were shown ten examples including ours, you'd know ours was awful, just on its merits. 2. You can't go five minutes without some idiot taking it upon themselves to make a significant, unwanted and poorly judged change to some part of football. From VAR to Thursday night games to European super leagues, some arsehole always thinks they know better than to stick with the recipe which made football an international success and cultural cornerstone. 'What's that you say, they've played in either red and blue stripes or a sash on white background for fifty years, and are synonymous with that unique heritage? Well, the making of unnecessary changes is what I'm all about, and I've got a GCSE in social media so I know best. Now, here's your s*** kit.' 3. Who asked for this? Who was consulted? It's the arrogance of it that irritates me.

Having an opinion on whether you do or don’t like something needn’t be linked to whether you buy it. Also try to see it from different points of view. Some of the fans enjoy the ritual of going to selhurst to watch the game in the clubs colours…perhaps they like having the latest kit. Until they saw this one!

i dont know why people keep rattling on about buying it. People are offended because The Palace will be turning out in it.
