Saints' 2nd goal is reminiscent of Liverpool's 2nd. They caught us on the break and we couldn't track back to defend.

On paper we are a better side than last season but we don't look like it.

Without Cabaye, that could be debatable. I see little evidence that he’s been adequately replaced.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I know a lot of people were saying he was getting on a bit, couldn't last the full 90 minutes but he was a huge part of the team and he's left a gaping hole in midfield that we haven't filled yet definitely.

Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot.

People rly need to lay off Roy. Definitely not his fault - soooo many chances missed! Benteke literally missed like 10 times. An easy 6 goals we could have scored by my count. Besides macca, henn, and occasionally AWB- our entire team played like complete s**t today

Coz we’re missing a playmaker in the middle

Game was awful today so many missed chances crosses in to the box to no body or over everybody ayew is either match rusty or useless yet to be seen give him a chance. But as for benteke he is hopeless and today Kelly wasn't much better to be honest. Games like Southampton are must wins for us

Disappointing, think even without Wilf we could've been more competitive than that. Meyer is an obvious slot in for Cabaye, looks class in possession helps you keep the ball, he has to start just like Cabaye did most games. Not sure Roy's thinking on that, Jimmy Mac was great today but you've got to fit a ball player in there otherwise you'll get out manoeuvred.. Without wilf just play 1 up and push jimmy closer.. Ayew has championship player written all over him unfortunately, strange signing.

The reason why everyone is having a go at Roy is because we were outplayed from the very first minute. After 20 it was clear we had the wrong formation or players on the pitch. 4-4-2 with Jimmy and Luka as the two central midfielders wasn't working. To be frank it has only almost worked because of Zaha's quality as an outlet. Meyer surely is the playmaker?

Everyone in the main stand was screaming at Roy to change it. Nope.

Second half they score from the off but it was a miracle we were still nil nil until then. Yes we could have scored a few times but only because this was Southampton who are a very average team: we were terrible.

When he finally did make a change - opting to take off Andros and leaving on Schlupp was a strange one but leaving on Benteke and taking off Ayew? That made very little sense to me or anyone else sitting around me.

Lets hope Roy works out what his best team is but right now he hasn't got a scooby.

Savage words from Savage today...without Wilf a Championship team, at best.

Roy...Poor. Ayew...Poor. Benteke...Piss poor.

Meyer looked sharp.
Sorloth way better than Benteke, created a golden opportunity for Benteke to score and grab an assist to add to his goal this week, but from 2 yards out, that fool missed.

Just watched Sky match choice.
Benteke was worse than I thought - three great chances and none taken.
Their first goal - what was Sakho doing!
We were woeful live and worse on TV!

This post has been merged from a topic called '5 things learnt' by Midlands Eagle

We still can't win without Wilf
Benteke couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo
Should have kept Murray
Should have kept Gayle
Need to start with Meyer
