This gets asked to people on here and the bbs and not this time, but often, for people to prove there somehow is no option anywhere and the only person possibly able to make football decisions in SE25 is SP.

'Who' would be for the club to decide. They have more knowledge of people and contacts in football on a day to day basis. This is a prem club with lots of staff, people talking to people here and there everyday with revenue that puts us in the business top 20 worldwide. It's not us getting by like it used to be.

I'm not going to comment on Phil Alexander. Not really where this topic is anyway.

No - you misunderstand me. I do not say that SP is the only person that could or should make the decisions, but you say that an experienced football person should come in, and between the 3 at the top of the club there's 30+ years of combined experience at running different aspects of a club. That's a fair length of experience and I would hope that SP takes advice on - or at least discusses - some of these decisions inside the club and also with others that do have relevant experience.

But I came back to my question, if you have no particular person in mind, then you must have in mind the role that the person would fill?

I didn't say you did. I definitely said other people.

Steve Parish and PA aren't football people like a dof would be, and I think we should be looking beyond DF.

Right - so we should be replacing another recent appointment with someone else? Again - not going to disagree that DF was a bit of a surprise, and possibly there are other better qualified DoFs out there who might come to Palace. I have italicised that because that's the crux of a lot of these arguments is that there are plenty of players, managers, backroom staff & football people that we might approach or would want at SE25, but they aren't fans necessarily and so wouldn't see CPFC as the dream job that we would.

Doesn't it seem to you that it might be a tendency that Parish naturally leans towards, whether his own idea or influenced by other Ex CPFC men, especially from 1990. Bright, Pardew, Woodman, a joke in itself, and then the highly inexperienced Salako?

Well at least we know DF won't be bringing in Clinton. Maybe Andy Thorn as dietitian or Brilin back as fitness coach and Ruddock as physicist.

We're venting on here and the BBS saying that we know better, so the fact he's asking ex-players and staff for their views is almost what we're asking him to do? i.e. listen to people who have a history and interested in the club. My issue would be if the advice he takes is limited to the CPFC 'family' rather than also asking others from the wider world of football.

Well then we're not far apart.

I don't know if Parish finds it hard delegating or trusting but people I've come across who use a mantra of 'if you want something done well/properly, do it yourself' hit a ceiling they don't go beyond, for reasons that obvious to most.

Everything has a price. If anyone thinks they know better and want to put their reputation, bollocks and cash on the line for the 'betterment' of the club, step forward!

Such w***ers on here now.

I refuse to believe there are that many people out there that can't spell. Too f**king lazy, that's what I think.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

To put everything into perspective Parish has so far spent £40million of Crystal Palace's money on Benteke and counting.

I thought he played quite well today, again with f*** all support. Perhaps we should learn that we are at the mercy of agents (especially if we leave everything to the last minute) a la Niasse
