Funny, the link you posted wasn't a transcript.

The quote I found was:

"But, Allardyce, speaking to talkSPORT presenter Jim White this morning, has revealed he made the decision before the game with Hull that he would step down from his post.

"Palace owner Steve Parish had no idea and wouldn't find out until after the final day at Manchester United."

If you watch Sky Allardyce was on The Debate this week and made a brief mention of it too. I watched it this morning.

How long are we going to go on about this for? You believe your truth and I'll believe mine. I can sleep at night.

The link I quoted was Talksport's own site where they've featured the most relevant sections of THEIR interview on THEIR station - not paraphrased elsewhere in the press. Perhaps it's not a transcript & I was wrong to call it that but what they've printed contradicts what you've quoted as fact.

The reason it's important is you are implying Sam had decided before we were safe whereas, not only has he implied it in the statement I linked, but had said elsewhere that it was once he'd achieved his goal of survival.

The latter being the case, it would lend itself more to the argument that he both didn't want the stress of another EPL season AND he'd earn 'redemption' following the England debacle - able to go out on a high with his reputation restored (to some degree). A very different picture than it being over transfer budgets.

When he resigned it was at the meeting arranged to discuss transfers & Parish was quoted as saying they didn't even get round to that discussion as Sam hit him with the news straight away.

All of this plus his own resignation statement points away from budgets or money being the reason - unless, of course he is an out & out liar.

I just get p****d off when folk look to make a negative spin on any situation involving the Club. It's not like they don't make mistakes but being roundly criticised unnecessarily really does make us look rather pathetic.

Pulis is the only manager ever to even suggest transfers was an issue & two separate judges have declared him a liar & a disgrace.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

Supporters of other clubs I've spoken to feel he's retired because he's done with bottom 6 management, has nothing left to prove there, will only get club offers down there, and doesn't need the money it pays down there, or pays above there. Therefore he's looking for a more laid back international job. If not then he might consider a club job for 6 months again unless it's a big club with potential for guaranteed safety in season 2.

I am sure the lack of being able to ring in players was the deciding factor. Had he been able to I think he would have felt he could have had a less stressful time as manager this season.

It's the domino effect which would put him under stress which would cause friction at home and so on. Money/players was the issue.

I don't know if you saw The Debate on Sky 2 nights ago when Allardyce was on there but he said Parish asked him if he wanted Sakho an hour or so before the window closed and he was instrumental in organising the defensive training.

Instrumental doesn't mean he was in charge etc etc. He had a valued impact probably. Good management if the input is of high quality from the defensive leader and respected.

Out of interest do you think it was a case of FdB agreeing with Parish to get the job or him actually saying what Parish wanted to hear that convinced Parish to give him the job?

There was definitely some of that going on. With us obviously being a smaller club I'd go with the latter although you can pick up a question and gauge where the interviewer is going and what they're looking for.

And this HOL talk of them hitting it off in Ibiza isn't a good sign for me. Parish was too close to Pardew.

Apparently I am a dreamer for thinking we should beat such teams.

Yeah it wasn't directed at you specifically. I've read it loads of times since Frank signed.

I and others last season were told off for expecting to beat West Brom, hull, Burnley and others. It's not that I expect to beat all of them or any particular one. Just one of them would be or would've been nice.

I have read all the bits about the number of managers we have had since Parish and CPFC2010 came to the helm.

I am reminded about a conversation I had some years back with a Spanish chap in Spain who mentioned about Atletico Madrid 'Presidente' Jesus Gil who changed managers 40 times in the 15 years he was at the club.

Soz. My bad. Practicing not completing words or sentences. Might go out and see how seriously I'm taken. Recently a kid needed a pound coin.

'Excuse me, do you have, like a pound coin I could change?'

'Sorry I don't have like a pound coin but I do have an actual pound coin. Here you are.'

The cheery short laugh and acknowledgement of the error of his generation's ways must mean he's been corrected before.

I recall going to see our team play WBA at the 'Hawthorns' many moons ago.Parked near the ground and some kids kept coming up and asked for money to look after the car ! Went to a pub virtually opposite the ground - have a feeling it was called 'The Hawthorn' but I could be wrong.

What car did you drive and what did you have to drink? Actually, what was the round?
