OK ,Arsenal were pretty comfortable winners but we were as ineffective going forward as we have ever been . For me playing wingers on the the wrong side doesn't work ,when we did get the chance to cross for Benteke it wasn't from the line but by cutting back followed by a floating cross . Benteke's best chance was from such from Townsend which he fluffed as he tried to generate some power .
Get to the line whip it in and Benteke will score goals.

Defended OK if a bit ragged , our wingers where pulled back too deep at times though fair play with the work rate .

Has Hennessy had the umbilical cord that was keeping him on his line finally cut ? Came off his line to take crosses , anticipated through balls , On that performance we don't need to buy another keeper .

Roll on Tuesday

Disagree, he knew exactly what he was taking on and nothing's changed.

Totally outclassed, but what did we seriously expect against Arsenal. It will take time for SA in instill more spine in this team overall. However, this lot needs to step up big time, every outfield player was lacking today. Both fullbacks were very poor mind you they got no help from Townsend and Zaha. Looking ahead if we can't get at least 5-6 points from our next 3 games (Swansea, WHU and Everton) then ......

So sh*t! It reminds me of the few occasions when I've played a football computer game and I've no idea what the buttons do!

The worry for me is that we could easily go down.
Everyone says we won't but we are all at sea, down to bare bones and unlikely to attract decent new players.
Townsend should never have been bought - huge wages and a waste of space - he is not alone!
Sam has a really tough job on his hands.
I understood his appointment but was underwhelmed by it so I just hope he can pull it off.
Palace often do well in adversity as recent history shows - let's hope we can engender some spirit because right now we are in deep doo doo!!!

He needs to find the form/attitude he was showing for Newcastle when they were struggling. He actually looked liked he cared in an under perfroming team, something we sorely need at the moment

People are massively overreacting. Calm down.

We were never likely to win today. And we were beaten by an absolute worldy from Giroud.

No, Benteke isn't crap. He's an exceptional premier league striker. He's proven that with Villa and he's already looked mustard for us at times. But what do you expect him to do with the service (or lack there of) that he's getting. If he gets 3 chances, he puts at least one away. But when he gets one half chance header and he misses, we can hardly slate him. He gets long aimless ball after long aimless ball pumped at him and is expected to hold off some of the league's best defenders, whilst bringing the ball down and finding a pass. Give the guy a break.

Sometimes getting the armband brings the best out of a player. Sometimes it distracts them. Clear it's doing the latter for Dann. He needs to be stripped of the captaincy and focus on defending.

Give Ward a break too - he's being played out of position and has been a consistent and great performer for us for years.

Wilf is incredible - can't believe people are slagging him off. He's asked to basically play wing back for an entire game...and does it. And still has the energy and endeavour to storm up the wing and counter for us...surrounded by 3 or 4 defenders.

Remember, we were McArthur-less today. One of our most important players, out.

Hennessy looking really decent.

Chungy made a massive difference when he came on. He's way better than most give him credit for. Should start in my opinion.

Just some thoughts from me

OK here's the reality

Swansea 1-1
West Ham 1-1 (with a penalty on 89th minute)
Sunderland 1-1
Watford 1-1
Burnley 1-1

that's it folks 22 points tops !

we can't beat Everton, Boro', Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester, Liverpool, City or United !

Can't believe you and one or two others are slagging wilf. He's been brilliant this season in a massively underperforming team. Was far from poor today despite having to defend for large chunks he still put in the effort even if not much came off. Crazyness along with sell Wilf for £25m post??? We need to strengthen not sell our best players ffs.

Of course, he's been our best player this season but out there today, you know that game we just watched, he was poor. Lost the ball I don't know how many times, was slow to get moving, didn't play some obvious passes and had a couple of tantrums when he didn't get the foul. I think those are fair observations.

They got massive amounts of help. Wilf (especially) and Townsend spent three quarters off the game in the edge of our box.

I think that is basically fair. Benteke looks like he is lacking confidence but is still a threat. Wilf and Townsend were playing as wing backs because our full backs are so poor. When we pushed up a bit more once we went to 0-2 they both looked ok. Cabaye wasn't great and we were a better team when he went off as Punch came into the game a lot more. Cabaye is a good player but not in our system and Punch is just not the same when both are on the picth. If Jimmy is back on Tuesday I'd start with him and Flamini with Cabaye on the bench.

Sorry, but he now known as a diver and moaner, so refs ignore him.

Wilf will never get respect until he leaves Palace. Remember refs never take reputations into account, apparently. Wilf has every right to moan and is clearly demonised, whereas a clear cheat like Alli is lauded. Watch the change in pundit approach once he goes to Spurs.

I thought it was very good of us to take the Arsenal 1st team squad for training today. I think they could have played that game again straight away.
