Yeah he did well gambling that Man U point away before a game people thought we had more chance of points from, only to offer nothing when 0-1 down. Then rely on a chance that might come in the dying minutes v Chelsea. Pardew and his followers to his flute tunes are getting more and more desperate and bizarre.

The correct move. We weren't creating much, but we did have a lot of possession, and at 0-1 down, with 45 minutes, throwing 'it all' to get a goal, against a team that tore Man City apart with counter-attacking football, is probably suicide.

More sensible probably to keep plugging away, keep it tight, and rely on the possibility of getting a few set plays or chances from the opposition.

Giving players like Hazzard space, is asking to be two or three down.

But not Pogba or Ibrahimovic?

2 minutes before that goal Jimmac was defending and tackling 5 yards from where Cabaye got too close and fell backwards to give Shearer an orgasm over a world class turn that really wasn't.

That's completely irrelevant to the Chelsea game?

The whole point is that on Saturday we were generally ok. We had the better chances until they scored, and at the end we were still in the game.

Against a team that is running away with the title, I'm happy that we gave ourselves the best chance of stealing a point.

But didn't give ourselves the best chance if a point 3 days before and really didn't threaten Chelsea in the slightest.

Big risk keeping this once upon a time last on the team sheet ex-player and indisposable, unlucky over 9 months of football and just about needing 2 hands to count league wins manager.

I think you and Inapickle should open your own thread and have a one on one debate....would be really entertaining 😅

I still don't see the point in bringing up a game that is completely irrelevant, and a completely different situation to the one we're discussing now.

The fact is that we were playing against a team that has now won 11 in a row, and that ripped apart Man City on the break a few weeks ago.

We had more possession, made more passes and had more corners. Didn't threaten? Behave. Yes, we weren't cutting them apart, but no one is cutting Chelsea apart. In the first half McArthur had a great opportunity with a header and Puncheon should have scored. In the second half Courtois made a very good save from Cabaye, Benteke had a half chance he didn't quite catch, and Townsend fluffed a great opportunity with that free kick. We were getting (mostly) good delivery into the box from set plays, it just didn't come off.

We were in the game. I'm not saying you have to praise AP and say we were fantastic, but I don't think it's fair to criticise him for that performance on Saturday.

Yeah but it doesn't mean he would have necessarily been there two minutes later. Personally I don't think it was a good substitution, but I think maybe you're underrating Pogba's contribution to that goal. Maybe Jimmy Mac might have been there, or been in a position to cut the through ball out.

But only maybe. Still a s**t decision mind to substitute McArthur for Frazer Campbell. But I don't think it can be anything more than an opinion to suggest it contributed significantly to their second goal.

We had more chances than when we beat them 1-0 at Selhurst park thanks to John Terry sublime header.

I think people think we're much better than we actually are. It didn't pay off, but we defended well, and were still in the game at the end of 90 minutes. Which against a team THAT good is an improvement (for a team that conceded five against Swansea, and three against both Burnley and Hull).

Also don't get me wrong, as far as I'm concerned if Pardew gets sacked, he has no one else to blame but himself. He should have gone after Swansea, but I suspect the Chairman isn't really going to make that decision... Which hopefully at least will mean that Pardew will get himself out of jail.

Because if we're going to continue with him, I'd like him to at least keep us up.
