Very interesting, but why should we agree to his demands for a pay rise to move to us, when he is currently the highest paid player in Liverpool's history. Could be a risk too far, and perhaps there is better value elsewhere rather than paying £30m + add ons and highly inflated wages, which would no doubt be unsettling for the squad in general.

Dom Fifield in the guardian reporting weve increased our bid to £ 27million with add ons if we reach europe. Hes normally on the money with palace stories. Until hes in sainsburys car park and having a roll on the victory club im not counting any chickens 😉mental but is looking possible. Fk it lets splash the prem dosh your only here once hell be a proper handful and improve the team even if were clearly paying well over the odds.

Some of our owners just got a whole lot richer in sterling terms. Probably helps em

Beyond £27m according to this: just about Pool's asking price. I am taking to my sickbed, too much good news for a died in the wool Palace fan. This kind of thing isnt supposed to happen to our club!

Story is that we've bid £27m with £4.5m add-ons based on achievements and a Europa spot has blown up, must be true. Can't see Liverpool declining this offer so i guess that means we just destroyed our wage and transfer barrier... This guy better get 20+ goals this season coming! Agree, it could be a risk too far.. As much as I'd like him in our side, we cannot afford this to balls up, we are not a city , Utd or a Chelsea who can take a big financial loss on the chin and move on. If we do end up signing him and it fails were knackered. Don't think we're ready to risk this kind of outlay just yet .

It depends on the scale of failure, we will always be able to flog him (even at a loss) He needs to succeed, you can have one bad transfer, s*** happens but two? it starts to look like you're the problem. It's barmy money but we have moved from Lidl to Waitrose and now we can afford to pop into Harvey Nichols occasionally.

Liverpool fans are also 'confirming' this news. Looks like we have a new striker
Time to move forward together. |

This is what a proven Prem goalscorer costs and actually, in light of Man United blowing £30 Mill on an Ivorian Centre Back aged 22 whom I've never heard of with just 40 senior La Liga appearances to his name (Eric Bailly), I just don't see how there are fans like you among us who are whinging about the price rather than just being incredibly excited that our little CPFC are somehow suddenly in a position to make a signing like this !
