In a perfect world, Crystal Palace should return to its birthplace. Guess what, the world isn't perfect. Far from it. There is absolutely no way in the world that the political powers that be would allow even the modest 25,000 seat proposal made a few years ago to happen. Bromley Council have decreed it. All efforts should go into redeveloping Selhurst Park into a facility that can handle the future of CPFC. A 35,000 to 40,000 all seated ground is the need at this moment. It should have all the modern amenities while still maintaining the special atmosphere of the Premier League's most colorful venue. There needs to be a brand new Main Stand and a totally rebuilt Arthur Wait. The Whitehorse/Advertiser Stand needs a bit of a re-model while the Holmesdale could use some upgrading. Moving is not the answer, it is completely unrealistic. The political will necessary for such an action doesn't exist, in fact, the opposite is true, The local residents have banded together to fight any "incursion" into their neighborhood and they are a powerful lobby at Bromley Council. CPFC does have some sway at Croydon Council. Supporters need to become politically savvy just as the Charlton supporters did when they formed the Valley Party and forced Woolwich Council to heed them. The very thought of an Eagles Party or Selhurst Party would be enough to force the Croydon lot to get it together. There's nothing more motivating to an elected official than a viable challenge to their position. Palace supporters who live in the London Borough of Croydon need to think very carefully about this. It could be the single most important contribution to be made in support of the Red and Blue. The rumours are we have backing from croydon council and it's sainsburys that are playing hard tho.

And the sums earmarked for it (through player sales, long-term season tickets and grants) didn't match up to the sums spent on its build. Where did that money go? So he is a t***.

I think stadium and young player development is earmarked for priorities for our new american owners, who are presumably refing their plans etc. Meanwhile a recent Advertiser article highlighted a return to Crystal Palace park.. A lovely dream which I thought had been ditched a few years back. But meanwhile, it appears a lot of people still have the dream...

We all know SP's plans in outline, which is to rebuild the Main Stand first, so there's really no point in the Advertiser, or anyone else, keep re-raising alternatives, including CPP (which has been firmly kicked into touch by SP himself). Parish has also made it clear that there will be no move away from Selhurst Park whilst CPFC2010 are the owners.

Just seen images from west ham game tonight, gap between pitch and dugouts is 40ft! Palace please don't move to a modern plastic stadium, we can develop our rubbish old ground and keep the best atmosphere in the PL by staying at good old Selhurst Park.

Selhurst is a decrepit dump & that's being polite. We need an all singing all dancing new place with modern facilities befitting a premier league club for both player & supporter.

The trouble is, most all singing all dancing new identikit stadiums I have visited have been devoid of any kind of atmosphere. Old and decrepit it maybe, but to me at least, it still feels like what a proper footy stadium should feel like.
