Could have ten years out of him and watch him in the next couple of years grow in to a top striker 15+ goals a season. Or he doesn't and we move him on and take a hit for a few million. Not the end of the world.... More upside than down. So many people in the world live in a pessimistic bubble. Be positive people!

As per my previous posts I am totally underwhelmed by this signing and would rather have not bought at all than buy him. I believe you said all that on porpoise just to get a reaction! Souare and Mutch both apparently played very well in South Africa with Steve Parish claiming the latter was the player of the tournament. Both these guys will have improved now and be real assets in the coming season. Souare is a proper left footed left back which we desperately needed while Mutch adds strength in depth and will be pushing hard for a starting place. Sanogo was a loan player and Ameobi a stop gap who was only here a few months. CY Lee is an extremely talented player we picked up for one million pounds whose injury meant he will be like a new signing this year - another more than capable player to have in the squad. The only other real signing in January was getting Wilf on permanently from a loan deal. Cabaye we all know is a class act and McCarthy is a well respected young keeper with PL experience and will provide good cover for Jules. Bamford was the league one player of the season last year and has now graduated to a PL first team squad for a mid table team - he is still unlikely to be first choice but will also be wanting to force himself in to the starting eleven. Wickham is 22 years of age. That is young and he has about five years before he reaches the prime age for a striker. Played in the right position he will score goals but on top of that he will be a handful for any defence. Really what is not to like by Pardew's signings over the last eight months? No he wasn't, he was the Championship player of the year, that's a very big difference. Even Zaha didn't win that accolade in our promotion season, so he could prove to be a real asset once he settles in. Sorry to be one of those annoying people who just pick out tiny quotes within threads and challenge them, BUT.... Yes he did
Sorry didnt read thebthread! Well written article sumarising the situation well I think
No he did not, he won "The 2012 Football League Young Player of the Year" nothing else. That year Rickie Lambert was the Championship Player of the Year. The following year 2013 Ince jr won the Football League Young Player of the Year, and Zaha only won the PFA's Player of the Year in the Championship, Ince jr took the top prize, after which BBS and here on Hol went into total melt down. What? I can't work out if you're agreeing with me or not? I just said he won the PFA player of the year, which he did -

And if we pay him £50k per week then Parish has lost his marbles and I am pretty sure he hasn't!
Why aren't you at least prepared to give the lad a chance in a Palace shirt? Do you think you know more about football and transfers than Pardew and Parish? I do not profess to know more about football than either of them but everything I read and hear does not lead me to believe it is a good move for us. You've given your opinion several times. You don't want him, that's your prerogative. I think the majority will be prepared give the guy a fair crack of the whip and see how he plays for us before writing him off.

Your the tool as you contradicted and continue to what I said not the other way round. PFA Championship player of the year "is not" the PFA player of the year not even close, how many PFA Championship players of the year have gone on to win the player of the year, answer "None" not even close to a nomination let alone winning. Tom Ince also won the PFA Championship player of the year, but he has flattered to deceive both at Palace, Hull, and Derby. Next time you contradict someone make sure your correct before you do, all facts are so easy to check on the internet these days.

It's a shame a thread on Connor Wickham, gets hijacked into a puerile discussion into exactly what award Zaha won a couple of seasons ago....come on Mods is there any way to extract these posts and put them into a seperate thread....or perhaps you could start a new forum 'full blown arguments!'
