Well, lets hope Comrade Corbyn does win. Then at the next General Election we will see how many people would want him as Prime Minister. It will be fun reading the excuses from the likes of Nick/Legal when the Labour party is reduced to Lib-Dem style numbers of MPs.

I doubt even as worthy a figure as you (and your plainly reasonable policies) would survive a 5 year daily personality dissing in the popular press

Wonder what percentage popularity DC would have had if he had got the standard personal onslaught aimed at any politician left of a one nation Tory who poses a threat?

Neanderthals had (have) tusks?

Well, the main reason immigration controls are needed is to ensure we keep out any people of a different race, religion or ethnicity to us ,isn't it? Or did you think that Derben bloke was some kind of bonkers neanderthal?

Edited by legaleagle (14 Aug 2015 8.13pm)

As usual you avoid answering very simple questions. If must be difficult for you to maintain the double-think that we need immigration controls but that there are no drawbacks to immigration. Come on, have the courage of what passes for your convictions and tell us why you think there should be immigration controls at all and what are the problems that such controls would address.

Can we keep the oft repeated questions about hypothetical immigration policies or lack of to the Calais or immigrants thread please. I'm getting confused it's all starting to look the same in every thread.

You don't say Nick, it's always dispiriting watching these potentially interesting discussions turn into a tribal mud fight.

This right v left is a false choice.

One of the things I have found most exasperating are those comments about electoral armageddon if Corbyn is elected, why is everyone so certain that he couldn't win?

Interesting, some recent stories from the FT have suggested that his ideas are not so far fetched:

Corbyn unelectable? Well he is resonating with Londoners.

A few have posted on here that Corbyn would be a very unpopular choice. I'll send them the recipe for humble pie in a few months when Corbynhas proved to be a more than able opposition leader.

It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. You are in denial, Nick. Corbyn has very little experience of running anything - see it for what it is, a protest vote. And a reflection on the very poor choice and quality of candidates.

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

Of course the likes of Farage have been given an easy ride have they? As Truman said, "if he can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen". Sounds like you are already getting your excuses in place for his inevitable defeat if leader.

It's all very well suggesting Corbyn is a popular choice and likely to go close as Labour leader, but you are talking about 600,000 people eligible to vote and a lot of them being very left leaning party activists will be drawn to Corbyn.

Unfortunately for Labour if he does get voted in as leader, the damage won't be apparent until the next election, when millions will be voting and the general public will once again reject a non credible leader like they did with Foot, Kinnock, Brown and Miliband.

You and others are totally in denial if you think otherwise.

Burnham remains the credible choice with Cooper as his deputy.

I personally hope Corbyn does get in, just like I hope Wenger picks a weakened team tomorrow and hands us victory.

Glad to hear you are not biased towards failings on the left in any way as opposed towards similar failings on the right.

Am presently reviewing the effects of lack of immigration controls on the extinction of homo neanderthalens.

Did have a thought actually. Could it be possible a few homo neanderthalens remain even now, having survived the onset of "modern man", 40,000 years after they were thought to have become completely extinct?

Why bring TUSC into this? Still awaiting from you why you think there should be any immigration controls and what the problems are that such controls are needed for.

Legal Eagle had obviously never heard of Bob Crowe

So anywhere that isn't 99% white is a 'hell hole'? You're either very racist or a very bad troll.
