Quote from Armando Iannuci: "We now live in a country in which John Major is our greatest living politician"

Privasation of the railways: Record numbers of passengers using the rail generating record profits for the operators. If you check your political history, I think you'll find Thatcher viewed the railways as a privatisation too far and was opposed to it for a number of reasons. Which is why it only happened under Major.

Yep - stuck up for us so much that she sold off a helluva lot of assets to foreign ownership. Connex South Central anyone? Sacre bleu - they were crap. But made a Franc or two. After converting Le rosbifs pounds.
Who is this 'left' you speak of? Surely not noo labour. They weren't left.

All I can say is how did she last 11 years as PM if she was that bad? I tell you before she came to power our country was on deaths door. She was immense and yes it was tough but she was one of the best things that happened to this country. All the people on here who disagree and like chucking abuse are just pathetic, childish and have no respect. I'll have a quiet drink and toast to her tonight. For those that want to reply to this with a derogatory comment, I won't bother replying its not the right time and I can't be bothered arguing with uneducated , inverted snobs that can't keep quiet on a day when someone dies and families and friends are in bereavement.
Jeez kermit, you've spent the whole day replying to everyone's posts on here. Just as well as you're not running the country we'd never get anything done. I can only hope you're not working today BTW not getting into a political argument with you but can I just say if Maggie was that bad a PM she wouldn't be getting the airtime on TV and all the recognition from public figures around the world ( even ex labour PM's) As far as I am concerned and obviously many others on here and around the country today she was very popular and people respected what she did at at a very difficult time. Do you honestly think she wanted people to lose their jobs. She did things for the benefit of the country as a whole. A few things in hindsight may have been done better but then we could all learn from this especially of Gordon Brown selling off our Gold reserves a few years ago when the Gold price was so low ( what a f***ing plonker that PM was!)

A GREAT PM. We were known as the sick man of Europe when she came to power. Labour had destroyed the country (winter of discontent, 83p tax rate, strikes all over the place). She turned everything around and did what was needed to be done. I lived and worked through her leadership. Every PM since has been a shadow compared to her. So easy to blame her for the ills of today, but I suggest that we would be in a worst state now if she had never been PM. We would probably be in the Euro and f***ed like so many other countries!! In 31 years of "suffocating State ownership, union-dominated, welfarism" before Thatcher GDP grew 150%. In 31 years since it rose just 108%. So much for 'economic miracles'. Thatcher was an economic disaster for the vast majority.

Hopefully her legacy will die with her. We are still suffering from her menage a trois with Reagan and neo liberalism.
See that nasty unemployable anti-social chav drinking too many alcopops and holding a nasty pitbull? It didn't exist in early 1979. But, by early 1989 the first crop were about to be released onto society. And her three boyfriends aren't much better.

New Labour? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Bend over and take it up the arse Labour! Maggie might not have been perfect but Christ alive anyone who thinks the state this country is in is because of anyone other than Blair & Strangely Brown are deluded! Ha ha ha ha ha ha I laugh at my country's demise cos otherwise I'll cry!
Another child of Thatcher *sigh*
I've never had any money, probably never will yet think Thatcher was a great ol' gal. So anyone who thinks only the 'rich' liked her can do one! But - the mark of a great person is whether or not you are liked or hated by the biggest c*nt to ever grace gods green earth - George Galloway. He f*cking hates Thatcher which just makes me love her even more. God bless Thatcher.

Not for me I bought 5 houses in the mid eighties and sold them all for a massive profit RIP Maggie Yeah well she was a patriot and you have a US flag next to your name. Even though she was pro US as am I, I think I know what she would think of that.
