I don't want to get relegated but this irrational fear of league 1 is pathetic. Norwich, Leeds, Leceister and to a greater extent Man City prove life goes on if a team suffers such a blow! Look at the big picture people and allow our next manager to BUILD a team by giving him time!

One word - Huddersfield.

What about Huddersfield?

Went down. Never came back, nor is there any realistic prospect of them doing so any time soon.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I have been following Bournemouth for years and I would be thrilled if Howe becomes our boss. He was worked utter miracles down there AND his team play good football.

Would be really thrilled with this.

Massive understatement alert....We will just have to wait to see who our new messiah is ...But it is good fun trying to be right as to who that is...It is amazing how the grapevine works, today alone i have had 6 texts from various people all claiming inside knowledge, when i ask if source is reliable, to a man they all say someone at the club TEXTED A FRIEND ETC ETC.

Moral of the story is, do not rush to the bookies on hearsay, or and maybe more importantly, post said inside information on forums...Interestingly enough Howe was the candidate mentioned the most in my frenzied text rush today. I have however resisted the urge to ...Lose my hard earned at corals, and make myself look a prize prat by professing i have possesion of knowledge as to who our next manager is...

I can understand why Howe could start to think that it is time for a new start. You don't want the chairman ranting at you in front of the players.

Quote Meanwhile, Mitchell was quick to scotch an unsubstantiated rumour that he had entered the dressing room to voice his displeasure towards Howe’s players at their display during the FA Cup defeat at Notts County six days ago.

“I don’t think any of the supporters or players were too excited about what happened and the way we went out,” said Mitchell. “We lost 3-1 and it was disappointing. It was a long way to go to be disappointed.”

That is not scotching a rumour in my book!

I have a feeling it would need to be one hell of a sales job to get him to join us. I have a gut feeling he will stay put as they are his lifelong love, the only thing that may alter this is his relationship with their chairman and having to sell players.
I hope i am wrong though as this could be a great opportunity for both him and us but would like to see an old head in the management line up somewhere just to advise and mentor.

Enter... Steve Parish. If he can persuade Jules I'm sure he can persuade Howe.

Well I have to disagree with you there. They are currently fourth chasing an automatic promotion spot. Have a very good sqaud of young players, Rhodes, Smithies, Pilkington, Novak, etc. They also have a brilliant manager in Lee Clark aswell. They may have been in league 1 for a while now, but they have built on from that now with a debt free club and owners who are willing to back the manager. Not to bad for a team that have suffered in the division... Plus they have Alan Lee

If people are seriously scared that if we were to be relegated to league 1 and that we would hang around in that division then how on earth are we going to cope with being in the championship next season?

Even if we were to be relegated, the squad we have at the moment would easily be able bounce straight back.

If he wasn't interested, I don't think he'd have bothered being interviewed.

I think this is the oldest mistake in the book, and it amazes me how many people think this way (my comment here is not about Eddie Howe or football in particular.) Cuck -- a job interview -- and I have been involved in many, both as applicant and employer, is a TWO WAY PROCESS. It is NOT for the employer to decide if he wants to hire the applicant. It is also for the applicant to learn about the job and organisation and decide if he wants to work for them. Eddie Howe will absolutely have been interested in learning more about the Palace opportunity and that's why he will have gone to the interview. But he may have left the interview thinking "I wouldn't work for that club/that chairman if my life depended on it." Going to an interview merely demonstrates an interest in improving your situation. It does not demonstrate that you want the job you're interviewing for. This is an important point (and anyone going to a job interview would do well to remember it. An interview is a 50/50 exchange; NOT a one way street.)

unless you're on the rock & roll or on a s*** salary!

Isn't it great to wile away our idle hours by speculating and discussing our new manager? Like the previous ongoing sagas of Noades, David Nugent, Jason Koumas, Isale Mcleod and many others it really spices up this site. The reported sightings in Sainsbury's Car Park over the years reads like a Who's-Who of the great
and the not so good in the football and entertainment industry. Be it Eddie Howe, Sean O'Driscoll, Steve Coppell, Ray Wilkins or a complete outsider I'll be ever so thrilled - always provided that it isn't Dennis Wise.
And if the new incumbent proves not to be the Messiah and we do get relegated - what the hell, it's all part of the Palace roller-coaster that keeps long serving supporters who remember the good old days in Division Three (South) hanging in there.

Man and boy Palace since my first game in 1948 sitting on my dad's shoulders
