The issue for me is Roy thinks he is on par with Alex Ferguson etc. He’s said it himself. The reality is he is by and large a one trick pony. That one trick has a shelf life. He did the same with England, steadied the ship and fixed the issues but progression isn’t his strength. He isn’t the manager to oversee and overhaul. His tactics work with older professionals, but that’s our issue - an aging squad.

I agree with those who think it is a good time to make a change, it will give a new man time to bed in for next year and see for himself how weak we are in key positions. We are still (god knows how) 14pts above the bottom 3 this SHOULD take some pressure off any new appointment, also it would give us an opportunity to see if they are a good fit for us with a possibilty of making another change in the summer if the appointment goes badly. I still think in the future when we look back at Roys tenure it will be largely viewed as a success over all but for now his time has come. Well it hasn't because there is no way on planet earth he is going anywhere until at least the end of the season. And unless there is a fairly significant influx of transfer funds at that point, our squad is comfortably one of the poorest 3 in the league. Be careful what you wish for.

Thank goodness for Covid - at least I don't have to travel 2 hours each way to Selhurst just to tear my hair out in frustration. Just like the team and the manager, time is catching up with me and I have probably bought my last season ticket. My wallet is sending a message to the board, and frankly, the board needs to take an interest my decision.

But he’s been given Eze, Meyer, Camarasa etc. And players strengths are nullified by his “system” I think BE said earlier he’d bet his house on Roy keeping us up with a 20million investment. I bet he would have bet his house on us beating Iceland too. The parallels with England are there!

Thats big words. Parish is ruthless when he needs to be and he will be fully aware of the advantages (that i and others have stated) of making the change now rather than at the end of the year. The key will be if the man they want to replace Roy with is available now, if he is I will be very surprised if Roy sees the season out.
One of the biggest mysteries in life is that loud stupid people normally don't have even the slightest inclination that they are stupid. |

Even IF someone else is appointed in the next few days, he will still inherit a squad with most well past their best, injured players including Zaha and no chance of signing any players before the end of the season. I don't get the feeling that any change will be made prior to the end of the season. Edited by Willo (14 Feb 2021 12.36am)

No but maybe another manager will have fresh ideas & a plan a & b whilst getting the best out of the players we have. In other words you are saying what’s the point it’s the same with people about the vaccine saying what’s the point in having it. Well we either carry on like we are change/have vaccine on the hope that things improve.

A new person will have his own ideas but will still only have the current players at his disposal and I would suggest with many in the 'Twilight' of their careers, coupled with some who have been abject he will not have too much scope for improvement ! With our league standing we will probably limp on to the end of the season with the current management in place. There would have to be a 'Volte face' to change the status quo. You can tell by the look of the manager acting as a salt sculpture, while Burnley outplayed us and could actually have won with a quite bigger scoreline.
