My reply was sent before your reply was seen, if that makes sense. Still not sure any need to start with ffs, imo Your assertion that this is binary, they either have good healthcare workers or a better economy, I found totally missed the point. I can get a bit passionate on certain topics.

Haha Then read the dispute about Kansas or New York No doubt you are now reading the Worobey article which states there is a reasonably persuasive argument it came from Nort America. No matter. It definitely didn’t come from Spain and almost certainly not from China, in case Mr Trump wants to blame that one on them too. Edited by Mapletree (16 Apr 2020 11.02pm)

Even in the abstract of the link you gave me they provide no certainty. 'The timing and location of the first cases of the 1918 influenza pandemic are still controversial, a century after the pandemic became widely recognized. Here, we critically review competing hypotheses on the timing and geographical origin of this important outbreak and provide new historical insights into debates within military circles as to the nature of putative pre-1918 influenza activity. We also synthesize current knowledge about why the 1918 pandemic was so intense in young adults. Although it is still not clear precisely when and where the outbreak began and symptom-based reports are unlikely to reveal the answer, indirect methods including phylogenetics provide important clues, and we consider whether intense influenza activity as far back as 1915 in the USA may have been caused by viral strains closely related to the 1918 one.'
You spread disinformation and your ego is too big to do anything other than double down.

You spread disinformation and your ego is too big to do anything other than double down. I see you’re struggling both with logic and reading today. I might just have mentioned that science is never certain. What I said throughout is what your Wikipedia article says. It is likely that the virus originated in North America. The most recent analysis gives clear support to that view. Maybe there is a reason you don’t want to accept it, or you just know better. This matters because of the blame game.

I'll state once again, the origin of the Spanish flu is disputed and I've provided the evidence for that as the consensus. You're just wasting my time. Edited by Stirlingsays (16 Apr 2020 11.54pm)

Edited by Mapletree (16 Apr 2020 11.02pm) Asian flu which killed at least 1m people in 1957/8 started in China - or did he make that one up too?
