Between us maybe. But someone has made a judgement that we all must follow, just as they do in almost every aspect of life. That's why we have laws and elected representatives to determine what they need to be. They are the someones. I wonder if you would be quite so sanguine about this if it had been Trump trying to bring it in.

Not the opinions held. It would be the effect and not the content. It seeks to remove location as a defence should hate or incitement occur. Say it alone, or to close friends and family, you would be OK. Say it to a group of 50 in your back garden and encourage them to react to your words and cause harm and you wouldn't.

I find that so improbable as to not actually be credible, but if he ever did propose something sensible I hope I would treat it at face value. Much more likely he would have abolished it by executive order in the first weeks of his term.

It says you “might” have 10 or 15 or 50 people round not that prosecution depends on their presence.

Yeah, I can really see McMillan or even Heath supporting that crap. An Englishman's home is his castle......The Soviets proposed hate speech laws at the UN after the war....the western allies rejected it. If only they could see people like you now.

Just like me they might regard it as a step too far but like me, and unlike you, they would understand the argument for it, even if they disagreed with it. I am quite sure that Harald Macmillan and Ted Heath had a great deal more in common with me than with you.
