You're damn right time is all that's needed. Each day that passes without the sky falling on our heads, as promised by YOUR ideology. Each day where we get by just fine without the EU breathing down our necks. Each day that we seek to source goods from outside the protectionist single market (thus reducing our reliance on the EU). Each day our non-EU exports increase, and EU exports decrease. Each day the percentage of UK GDP reliant on the EU drops. Each day the internal tensions of a wannabe superstate (without democractic consent) ratchet up. Each day we strengthen cultural and commerical links with countries outside of the EU. Each day we innovate and legislate to out-compete the EU's regulatory albatross. Each day that passes, your sad dream of being a star on someone else's flag diminishes. Thank God (and Boris) for that. We'll see. Boris is an opportunist who is now completely out of his depth. The pandemic wasn't his fault and would have tested the best. Which he isn't. Now we have a "deal" which appears to be markedly worse than that which was on offer before. The best "deal" was always a "soft" Brexit in which we retained all the advantages of the single market. It was only ideology and emotion which got in the way of that happening. Now we have a fudge being rushed through at the midnight hour to avoid scrutiny on the basis that any deal is better than no deal. Which was NOT the original promise at all. History will not be kind to Boris Johnson.

I was sober then, and almost sober now! It won't ever be "let go"! I love my country and want the best for it and ALL it's people. We WILL be back. It won't happen immediately, and how and when is as yet unclear. But we will be back. The tide of destiny is the unstoppable force which no combination of self-proclaimed, out of age, patriots, UKIP regressives, Putin bots, Powell admirers, Cambridge Analytica inspired social media campaigns and opportunist politicians like Johnson can withstand. I have long time scales. This is a battle lost. Not the war.

Do you beleive everything you read or just what suits your mindset. No I don't believe all I read! I read a lot from many political views. As a centrist I often take issue with extreme viewpoints. The article here though was well written and made good points. Thanks for the good wishes which are reciprocated. You are a decent chap whose views on other subjects I sympathise with. 2021 can hardly be worse than 2020. With vaccines on the way and Spring 3 months away we just have to hold on for a while longer and the sun will start to shine again. If this has done nothing else 2020 has been a reminder of what is truly important in life. Which is to have it, without pain and suffering, surrounded by those we love. Love is the most valuable thing any one of us has. My condition seems stable at the moment but getting checks is a bit of a challenge. I am though a fighter. Not for nothing was I once nicknamed "Mr Tenacity". Happy New Year to you.

I am not responsible for what those running the census want to establish! Sound familiar? A watch made out of an apple? What will they think of next.

It's midnight: 2020 and Brexit are gone, though the memories will linger on....... tomorrow/today you can start the Post-Brexit or Life Outside of the EU thread, but this one, like the year, is done and over with.

So we have finally left the EU. My grandad who passed three years ago would have been 100 this week. He served his country during world war 2. My Nan passed this year, she was bombed (get this) three times during the war. Twice in Battersea and once in Tooting. Both were huge supporters of us leaving the EU. They were not anti Europe, just thought things were much better before joining. Both served their country and earned their right to have an opinion. I hope they are looking down tonight with smiles on their faces. I for one am about to raise my glass to fantastic grandparents and an incredible generation. Let’s make Britain great again!
