Name them. Your party, you tell me. For my tuppence, they need an elder statesman who knows they will lead for only 2 years but who will provide the necessary cooing noises to calm and reverse the electoral desertion to any party but Tory. Someone with a long pedigree. Someone who is Eurosceptic but sufficiently pragmatic and realpolitik as to draw in other views (save remain) to ensure a successful transition into an independent state. It pains me to say it but possibly my MP - Liam Fox? Ironically, if they do not select someone avuncular like the good doctor, and if Boris is selected, I see 15 months of turmoil (probably less) and Fox losing his seat at the GE to the Lib Dems.

Any of the Tory elder statesmen still around? I don't follow the Tories closely enough to know. I'm just thinking people like Ken Clarke etc seem better than the current lot. But maybe they make almost anyone look good - with the sole exception of Starmer et al.

Agreed I am sick of voting for a party only for them to betray us. Let's have a pro Brexit Tory Party and and a Pro Remain one then people can vote for the one they want. Same applies to Labour although the split maybe on different terms. People are entitled to vote for parties that deliver what they promise not politicians who only care about power. Totally, there are too many parties hiding within parties within both Labour and Tories.....it is slightly annoying when you hear the left continually whining about the ERG group within the Tories when the far left have been part of Labour for decades...Starmer supports all their sodding policies....ask him to define a woman and about all that trans crap. All they care about is power and personal ambition and seemingly whoever it is they feck up. A plague on all their houses, until we see one worth living in. If any of the feckers will build a house that is......they keep letting all these foreigners in and don't build the housing stock. Inflate, inflate, inflate the housing market.....they don't admit to it but it's implication of policy over decades....if the house prices crashed feck knows where a lot of us would be. But regardless, if you won't build the housing stock they should stop inflating the population. Low quality elites. Edited by Stirlingsays (21 Oct 2022 3.15pm)

They aren't my party. They are the only alternative to Labour who can win an election. They have not delivered on immigration and have allowed our institutions to pander to minorities. Elements in the party have become disruptive since they lost the Brexit vote. I want to see a shift to politics that represents the majority in this country and secures a decent future for my grandchildren. The way we are heading now spells complete disaster.

Certainly, it seems to be the case that the two party system has meant that both have become too broader church of ideals. We need clearly left, right and centrist parties and the necessary shuffle of MPs. The political class aren't fit for purpose.

The Tories have failed us on so much. Immigration and wokism being the main two for me. However, it was barking mad political suicide for the Tories to sack Johnson and the only chance they now have of avoiding total annihilation at the next election is now to bring him back. It is staggering that a group of well educated people could fail to see that Johnson was the right man for them despite his flaws, primarily because they had no one else who is electable after Covid and during a time of global upheaval. Bring Back Boris, I say. Anything that will keep reduce Labour's time in office is good for this country in relative terms. The bigger picture. Agree
