Sell one, and keep one Eaglecoop, and live off the one i sell, just renting both at the moment, whats your take on it? I already posted in reply to Bluejay a couple of pages back. It’s time for change, but not to the detriment of the British people or British investors.

For 'creating and maintaining peace', read coming up with a mechanism to prevent Germany from starting yet another major European conflict given its predilection for invading other countries. And then, in an act of incredible self-harm, creating the Euro which effectively turns Germany back into the dominant European force that no longer needs its Panzers given it now has a perfectly good central bank in Frankfurt to do its bidding, allowing it to strangle democracy all over the Continent. Way to go Europe. Just as a matter of interest how much time have you spent in Germany and how many modern Germans do you know? Having worked for 2 German companies, spent a lot of time there and got to know many German people my impression of them and their commitment to democracy and fairness is that it is exemplary. The values they have been taught, largely because of the reset we initiated after WW2, are in many ways more English now than those displayed by some Englishmen. There is absolutely no desire to dominate anyone. You probably won't believe it though.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Throw in a history of economic colonisation out to the east (modern-day Germany has a huge chunk of what it might be able to claim a legitimate ownership of to the East) and you have a nation that always needs keeping a wary eye on. Both enjoying a huge positive in terms of some natural resources such as coal whilst being almost completely lacking in others such as oil and various ores, and you have a nation-state that has to secure a variety of commodities to ensure its well being. The EU tempers Germanys worst instincts. But the Euro has completely thrown that balancing act and handed Berlin far to much power. Europe will rue that day eventually.

About time, new EU workers can no longer claim benefits for 5 years.
If the greedy employers are so desperate for EU workers then they will have to offer them a better pay deal to make it attractive to come here. Now we need to ensure that these jobs are taken up by the unemployed. This is the absolute crux of it. For example, the big building companies were desperate for us to remain in Europe as their profits, boosted by utilising cheap European labour have rocketed in the last 10-20 years. Let’s get back to British workers getting paid decent money for a decent days work. Let’s have British sub contractors being able to win tenders because they are not up against crews from Eastern Europe pricing jobs at cost to kill British crews off. The net result? The big companies don’t make obscene profits, the ground workers, carpenters, fixers, plasterers, bricklayers, plumbers, electricians and let’s not forget the labourers start to earn fair money, are able to contribute more in taxes, etc, etc. This is my business and it’s what I understand, but I’m sure it would apply to many other businesses that can see a positive out of being hamstrung by European tender rules.

How this is all ending today has a certain delicious irony to it. Starmer was instrumental in changing Labour policy from respecting the referendum result to not only calling for a second referendum but also then cheering on a second Remain option. A policy that was beyond any rational comprehension. And at that moment, handing Johnson the next election on a plate. Perhaps the biggest ever example of political self-immolation in modern history. That speech he gave at the Labour party conference in 2018 will be studied by generations of political students for decades to come. With his punishment being made leader of the Labour party and then suspending the man who led the party to almost winning in 2017. With Labours second referendum a policy that was utter insanity given the electoral reality of the UK. Gifting Johnson an 80 seat majority. Might as well have put it in a shiny box and tied a lovely ribbon around it. And now, a little over a year later, leading the Labour Party and whipping his MP's to vote for Johnsons deal. Delightful. The kind of s*** you could not write as fiction. Well done Sir Starmer. I am now convinced he was the Leave campaigns secret weapon. Our greatest double agent. A true Knight of the Realm!

Why wait, hop over to Ireland and be a citizen of the world. It never ceases to amaze me how many fifth columnists love to suckle at a teat they so clearly dislike....then again, that's what fifth columnists do I suppose. The beauty of my EU passport stirling is that I have freedom to choose where in 28 countries i can reside, sure, Ireland is one of the most beautiful, and i might end up there, but with the beaches of Spain or Portugal for 6 months of the year to? Croydon is great, but at our age i feel we have earned a slower pace of life, so I will play it by ear. The swopping my gb passport limiting me to one country, all be it the country of my birth, for 28 countries including blighty, was a no brainer, and i can only see it getting worse, as half the patriots like to bow and scrape to the eton elite, it"s tough times ahead for the average working man i"m afraid, just glad i have done my share and am semi retired already.
