. My assumption was that maybe the Police think it could make things worse at this particular time by them having to divert scarce resources.

My expectation is that something will be released, possibly in redacted form to protect ongoing investigations, when it is considered safe to do so.

Scarce resources? Crime figures for the past month will be at an all time low.

What difference does it make that it's an internal report? Facts are facts?

I doubt that will be true and it's not all they have to do anyway.

The Police are not only have to deal with those who think that the lockdown doesn't apply to them but the increased domestic violence.

Of course facts are facts.

The problem with facts is that many who think what they believe are facts really just hold opinions.

That though is beside the point. The question is who needs to know those facts, and when should they know about them.

If you don't need to know, why should you know if knowing them could cause harm?

After a month of the country being in lockdown they’re under strain? No reduction in street crime, public disorder, drug dealing, shop lifting, etc?
That doesn’t bode well for this report being revealed at any stage.

Exactly. The police have never had it easier than this month.

Whilst clearly some crime, like shop lifting, will have reduced due to the lack of opportunity others have increased, like domestic violence. Plus the new responsibilities involved in trying to ensure the lockdown is not abused.

I have no more idea than anyone else what the balance will be. All I was doing in the first place was speculating on a possible reason why the report may have been held back. Doubtless in the fullness of time we will all find out.

So nothing that requires any further investigation. That must free up some capacity.
We all our speculations on why it’s been held back; if wandering around a park telling people off for sitting down is one of them so be it.

I don’t think a couple of police walking along a beach stretches resources.
All I will say about your comments regarding the way these cases have been handled is... Jimmy Saville and Cyril Smith
I watched a documentary after his death where it was divulged that he held weekly coffee mornings with senior Police Officers... why?
People in positions of power knew what was going on but decided for whatever reason not to act, political/Masonic/ personal involvement I do not know but post-mortem the truth becomes known.

You don't know any better than I do why it has been decided to keep the report internal. All I have done is speculate as you have.

I very much doubt though it has anything to do with any kind of cover up, or to protect "people in positions of power". I think it is much more likely to either be because of a desire not to risk compromising current Police investigations and prosecutions or because they don't want to divert attention away from the need to deal with the C19 crisis or that they fear public disorder because the findings are so damning and cannot risk that at the moment.

I guess I am just not so sceptical as some. We will, as with Saville, learn the truth in time.

We aren't waiting! The report is available and will be actioned upon. The only thing that isn't happening is everybody and his uncle getting to see it.
