Yep SP saying he wanted to upgrade the Academy and get it Cat 1 status was utter bs!

It's a nightmare to find a site, and the timescale would be many years. Look how long it is taking to get the new stand built. The ground is embarrassing. It has to be rebuilt and the sooner, the better. The Main Stand has to be a priority because it houses the infrastructure of the club. Costs for building always go up, that is the way of things. Supply of materials will improve, but prices rarely go back down much once they have gone up.

Agreed Hoof, I'd even be happy to temporally ground share in London ie Fulham while they rebuilt the Aw and the main stand, the Aw view from the rear is a disgrace really!

I do not wish to leave Selhurst Park, but let's face it the new stand is taking longer than the Taj Mahal or Sagrada Familia. If we were to move there are three sites all very close to the ground. 1. South Norwood Recreation Ground 2. Whitehorse Meadow 3.School Playing Fields

According to clickbait Palace are about to make an announcement on the stadium. This is due to somebody at the club posting cryptic pictures on the Palace Twitter account over the last few days. If this is correct my advice to the club is if you have something to say get on with it and stop playing silly buggers.

Out of curiosity, what would be the largest possible stadium in the current location? Let's say we have unlimited funds, and we are able to buy out Sainsbury's. The Main Stand is already "in the works", so that's done. I assume the Holmesdale is already pretty much maxed out in terms of seating for that space. So for expansion, that leaves the Whitehorse and AW. Would we be allowed to build a two tiered stand on either the WH or the Arthur? Best case scenario, with unlimited money, and no obstacles from local government, what would a newly renovated Selhurst Park look like?

i can't ever imagine Selhurst looking like a modern stadium. It will always be a patchwork of grossly out of date stands and somewhat more modern structures but never a cohesive stadium in the modern sense. I kind of like it like that. Would be a strange place without corrugated sheet roofing that looks dangerous in winter winds, and wooden seats that have been sanded by thousands of asses over decades to a familiar and comfortable shape.

If (please God) we can make the new Main Stand happen, the capacity will be about right. People can moan about the Arthur and Holmesdale but they’re big old stands and a patchwork of different stands from different eras is exactly how I want it.

The concourse was never designed for that many people. Its a throwback to when it was half seats and half terrace. This was never a problem before we reached the prem because it was never full. It is regularly full these days and its a problem.

As an international fan, it's where we get put. Imagine brand new fans experiencing the catering and toilets. Unreal, some non league clubs are better. I always enjoy myself regardless but it's not a great look for a Premier League club.

Probably cos the seats are so small and space is cramped. I don’t know if there’s anything in the plan to replace the seating, would be worth doing.

I agree, for atmosphere and enjoyment I much prefer Upton Park to the London Stadium, Highbury to The Emirates and Maine Road to The Etihad. Anfield is another fantastic stadium for atmosphere and I can’t imagine any new purpose built ‘bowl’ will ever be on a par with an old style stadium. The one thing they do improve on is facilities but I’d forego those any day for atmosphere and view / closeness to the pitch. Edited by Phil’s Barber (23 Dec 2021 3.55pm)
