I think it is fairly obvious there will be a deal here. For the EU I think they have moved on and just want it off the table. It is not life or death to them, as it is to the UK. It will be like Chamberlain returning from Munich 'peace in our time'. On to the next stage, the UK not keeping the agreement or trying to re-negotiate it for a better one.

WTO covers trade. Trade only. Our agreements with the EU cover security, pharmaceuticals, IP and data across almost every conceivable area we have in common with them, social security, airspace, science and R&D, transport, immigration and so on and so on. There’s more but this is just off the top of my head. Everything ripped up overnight. Agreements and knowledge sharing that took decades to build up. All we won’t be a part of and will have to try and build up or re-negotiate an entry to again. No one said it would be a smooth ride Dan. When one make a decision based on bigger principles, one has to accept the rough with the smooth. Would you at least wait until something bad actually happens before you panic?

I agree there will probably be a deal but it is ironic and quite unforgivable that your type has done it's very best to confound our negotiating position from the start while also claiming to care about this country. I don’t think they’ll ever come to pass but I least see where you and Matov etc are coming from. What no one (not you peasants on here ) but the real cheerleaders and politicians behind Brexit have ever satisfactorily answered is how do people and businesses get over the real life next day, weeks and months shock of a ‘no deal’? Someone earlier on this thread said that businesses should be prepared already. Fine - but prepared for what? They still don’t know what their trading environment is going to look like in 10 WEEKS time. They don’t know if or what tariffs will be applied yet and how much costs will go up. Exactly what paperwork they need to get in order. Whether supplies could be delayed due to hold ups at ports and airports. This was going to be difficult enough anyway, let alone right in the middle of a global pandemic. It’s just mind bogglingly stupid.

I disagree. Now is the perfect time to do it. Everything is utter mayhem anyway. The UK can now move at a much faster rate to help all areas of our economy. This is why it is absolutely crucial to not allow Brussels any kind of power over where and when state money is invested. Covid will make a clean Brexit easier. A true reset.

The EU could have given cameron a few sweeteners and we wouldn't be here now. Can it really all be the fault of the UK. Do you know what cameron actually wanted? I suspect not even wissie does.

I honestly do hope you’re right! I could even (just about) cope with you lot gloating. I just can’t work through any situation where we come out better but I guess we’ll find out. At least it won’t be boring.

I always think that one of the biggest ironies about this is that the strongest arguement for the EU is actually made from a far-right position. Europe for the Europeans. Expand the EU to include Russia and then look to ring fence it from the rest of the world. That EU could feed, clothe and power itself. It simply has no need of outsiders. Encourage Europeans to start having children again, remove borders to encourage more growth out to the East. Strengethen its Christian identity and look to remove all forms of Islamic influence. The only valid way of opposing globalisation. And yet it is the Left who push for what is an archaic and badly run institution that wishes to centralise more and more control. The harm done to Souther European nations alone by the Euro should have every genuine Left winger up in absolute arms and calling for its immediate removal. But nothing what so ever.

That is why it was unforgivable when Remainers dragged proceedings out for months longer than necessary. I can't say I'm currently optimistic about the future of Britain but that has nothing to do with Brexit and everything to do with the grip of globalist elites on our lives and how that has affected our society.

Another MP who doesn't know the rules. I think this is poor most people understand that you can't use public resources for private campaigning most people apart from our MPs. It doesn't matter that she is Labour I am not making a party political point I'm just exasperated at MPs treating the public like mugs.

The Governor of the Bank of Ireland is worried. Let's hope the politicians listen.
