For European countries, the UK is 2nd (behind Germany) in GDP at 91 billion. Poland is 10th at 4 billion.

In the last year the UK GDP has grown by 4.89%, Poland's by 0.24%.

Do you have a source for that figure?

The reports I can see are vastly different, example below;

"UK gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to have fallen by an unrevised 0.3% in Quarter 4 (Oct to Dec) 2023, following an unrevised fall of 0.1% in the previous quarter.

The economy decreased for two consecutive quarters, while GDP for 2023 as a whole is estimated to have increased by an unrevised 0.1% compared with 2022."

"UK GDP is estimated to have increased by 0.1% in 2023, following growth of 4.3% in 2022. This is the weakest annual change in real GDP since the financial crisis in 2009, excluding the year 2020"

Presumably there will shortly be a mass exodus of Poles from the UK then? It certainly didn’t happen post-Brexit. Unless, of course, the UK is not such a bad place for them….NHS,Schooling, wages, child benefit. Still let’s not allow facts to get in the way of anti UK sentiments

I often wonder where these stats are taken from. Border Force do not count them in or out. If it is taken from those that have registered their presence here, they probably are way out

Even so, a drop in the Polish population in the UK from a peak of over a million to 600-odd thousand is a clear trend.

As much as I would like to rub those figures in the faces of the Rejoiners, the reality is that almost every economic figure these days is dubious beyond belief really.

And I think we perhaps need to stop looking at everything in economic terms. I would rather be poorer but live in a UK I recognise as a soverign nation, led by people truly invested in doing their utmost to make it better, than sell my soul for GDP.

I agree, most stats these days are worthless.

And I promise this: on the 25th anniversary, Poles will be wealthier than the British. It's better to be in the EU!”

Quite a turn-round.

Can’t be true as it is now in the Daily Mail

This and maybe if any hmg worked in favour primarily for the many ( being the higher %) of the population then any argument about how s*** they are will be void. Public opinion is frowned upon as it affects the minority. I don’t mean blacks or alphabets etc. just the tiny part of the population who shout the loudest about how bad their life is. Meritocracy isnt just about your work environment.

I started a thread on government stats a while back because they do matter and are often wrong.

If you tell the public we are in a recession when we are not it will impact their spending habits so becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Accurate data about everything that impacts this country may not be an exciting topic but is important.
