I might be wrong but I think Hrolf sentiments are more generally expressed on those areas. I think ME's joke was funny....well actually yours wasn't bad either....I just think that Hrolf's fed up with it all.

PS....I've been in contact with Enoch and he's currently campaigning to get MLKJ deported from heaven....but he doesn't think he'll succeed as it's a Jewish god.

I know we all predicted this main stand renovation plan would drag on forever, and now it has officially dragged on forever. At the end of the day, even if it ever happens, we will just get a few thousand more seats in the main stand, without any reasonable chance of ever expanding the Whitehorse, the Arthur, or the Holmesdale.

So, the question is, if we ever hope to kick on as a club, would we be better off looking for a place to build a brand new stadium somewhere in the area? It sort of feels like Selhurst is maxed out in terms of expansion, and if we have to go through years of hell just to add a few seats, why not explore more ambitious options?

Basically, F--- haggling with Sainsbury's. Isn't there any other possible spot where we could do this lengthy political battle to get a stadium built?

If it costs £100M for 8,000 new seats, that comes out £12,500 per added seat. 19 home matches per year, would take a decade or more for those seats to recoup the £100M cost. I just don't understand the cost benefit of this project, especially given how difficult it is to start it.

So much cost and effort for 8000 more seats. I’m with you. Problem is finding somewhere locally. CP park would make a fantastic venue but planning and locals here are sooooo negative.
A premier team in CO park in my world would be brilliant for everyone except the NIMBY locals. So frustrating.

It's not just "8,000 extra seats" but Steve Parish has worked out the new stand would bring in £15million net income a season. That is a significant sum towards player transfer funds. Otherwise, the stand would pay for itself after five years.

Apologies.

This is exactly the point. Those won't be "normal" seats. The majority of the 8,000 will be linked to hospitality and lounges, etc. and will sell for and generate far more than the present standard ticket price. Furthermore, I suspect the rebuilt stand will have facilities (restaurants or whatever) that will see it used way beyond just matchdays. Rather than ten years, I suspect the cost will be recouped in two or three years, four or five at most.

Personally, I like the plan. Sure, you can build an econobox stadium somewhere around the M25 and chuck the club's character out of the window for 50,000 capacity which, quite possibly we wouldn't fill anyway but even if we did, Selhurst is home. I'd rather follow the Anfield model than the Emirates model, personally, and remain identifiably Palace. As for the Sainsbury's issue yes, right now it's a problem but who knows how this will evolve over time? Presently, with the Main Stand development the focus the club have no need to push it and are better off keeping their powder dry. But big businesses are notoriously averse to negative publicity and once the Main Stand build is done, if attention turns to the White Horse Lane End I wouldn't be shocked if one way or another the problem was solved. If you could put up a Holmesdale at the White Horse End you'd probably have a capacity around 40,000 and that's just about right with some tweaking of the Arthur at some point too.

For me, Parish's plan is on the money. I'd be distraught if we left Selhurst. I see no real advantage in it at all.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

Spot on Syd. We have a unique atmosphere and it would be short-sighted to give it up for some soulless events centre with a bigger capacity.

SP numbers are BS like most stuff he comes out with.

There is a reason his companies called smoke and mirrors.

The whole 100m for the stadium work as well is BS this may of been the estimates years ago but it will be far higher now.

It makes 0 sense to do any work on the current stadium.

The whole host events and Internationals is laughable.

No Palace ground will ever be soulless. Our fans will see to that. We are renowned for our noise.

If we stick a new roof on the Homesdale and make it single tier Croydon council would close us down cos of noise pollution. Plus cantilever the Arthur so it’s not a cow shed. And put proper toilets in. Not latrines. Oh and try selling food not cardboard.

Interesting points about facilities. We were discussing this yesterday and both my son and myself, felt that the club could have used the pandemic to upgrade the facilities and the quality of food is very poor
