Agreed, will we ever find out the truth? I doubt it

Strange..If that is the case, did Palace ask Burnley for permission to speak to their manager!!!!! , I thought that was protocol to ask permission before approaching. Yes, I'm pretty sure you can't formally interview a manager who is already in a job without permission from their employer. We may have had talks off the record, but that's a whole different ball game. I'd be ok with Dyche. He knows how to get the best out of a limited squad and would likely be more committed than a big name manager like Nuno or Favre. Burnley have just spend £12m on Collins though, so maybe he is finally being financially backed at Burnley; if he is then I can't see him jumping ship. Also, there was talk in the press a while back that Parish was not interested in him anyway. Possibly because Dyche might struggle to move from a club where he has all the control to one where he doesn't.

Looks like Matt Hancock may soon be available. Would help Wilf track back and trace.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

Whatever anyone thinks of the players being out of contract, I think this is surely attractive for a potential new manager. It strikes me as media/clickbait hysteria rather than logical thinking that this is a problem. Although I know nothing of the clubs financial structures, not being tied to paying the likes of Wickham, VA, Sakho, Kelly, Hennesesy and Townsend (and having already released Mayer) must be a positive; there must be the opportunity for a manager to stamp his own mark on the team. Benteke who might have been a sought after asset was quickly tied down, the others are understandably not.

I am reminded of the adage "There's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip". Edited by Willo (25 Jun 2021 10.54am) Reminded of it?! You are like a cracked record Willo. It wouldn't be the same without you posting this quote on EVERY thread involving transfers or appointments…each and every close season / transfer window!

He also must have know how much was available for transfer funds.

It could have been issues with the work permit that didn't want to be made public. Would have been a lot easier last year, no work permit required until 1 st Jan this year. This was the only outstanding issue as he'd agreed everything else. Edited by Orange1290 (25 Jun 2021 12.41pm)

Did Dyche actually sign a new contract at Burnley? I never saw it confirmed. If not then just pay the bloody compo and get him in, he would be our best chance of survival at this point. Especially as it would pretty much relegate Burnley. They've just signed Nathan Collins, highly rated 20 year old CB we were linked with, so they're already doing the business we need to be. If I was Dyche I'd stay put.

Poster on bbs works in HO and worked on post Brexit criteria for work permits, he confirmed he qualified. Nice try though! Bruno Lage got one issued and it was debatable if he met the criteria Edited by Spiderman (25 Jun 2021 1.15pm)

Cracks me up to see people blaming the manager. You have to ask yourself, how many times do clubs apply for work permits then the guy says “actually I’m not ready to return to football”. This is pretty rare. So did we get unlucky with this one guy, or is this part of a pattern of how the club is run, and did parish balls this up somehow by saying the wrong thing or messing the guy around. Roy Hodgson probably told Parish months ago, as RH is quite the honorable chap. This is the exact same situation as waiting to the last minute in the transfer window. Amateur hour. With all the players out of contract this is the worst off season ever to dick around with a managerial search. Given the fact that Parish has likely known for months he had to get a manager in, this is seriously incompetent.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |
