I see that with everything going on in the world at the moment the news that Phillip Schofield was leaving ITV was the lead item on BBC News At Ten last night and they devoted quite a lot of time to it deeming it much more important than the Russians bombing a hospital in Ukraine

Unless I have missed something they report the protest but not the content of the lecture?

I did wonder how long it would take to link the BBC's obsession with climate change with mental health...

Fundamentally it’s all about money because they won’t allow an alternative viewpoint. You know, one that at least explains it probably won’t become worst case scenario on the environment. Once all the 40 somethings are dead the remaining ones will have sucked up all the bull crap and submit.

The BBC are not doing any "linking". They are reporting that someone who was working in studying the impact of climate change started to feel depressed by the lack of action.

That's a serious story. If someone who truly knows what's happening reacts in this way it needs to be explained to people.

The 'mental health' card is being used as effectively as the 'race card' used to be. It's a get out of jail card where you don't have to explain anything really.
"I think it impacts me, so it must be real"

I disengage, I turn the page.

News dumbing-down at it's finest. Don't get expensive information from validated sources, go for the cheap stuff that the masses will suck up and pay good money for.

You can't have an alternative view on facts - there is next to no disagreement amongst experts in this field.

No it's not.

Plenty of people struggle with mental health issues for all sorts of reasons they don't make the front page of BBC news.

The story is not though about mental health.

It's about the lack of action on climate change causing sufficient concern to impact an expert in that way.

It's climate change which is the serious story. Not the mental health of an individual.

It's a puff piece for the environmental lobby.
