If he paid half his salary back to the club for being so inept, Id feel something like sympathy for him. Even then he'd be astronomically overpaid. He could retire anytime he liked unless he's been as hopeless with his money as he has been scoring goals.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

If Benteke had missed a simple header that Firmino just missed against West Ham he would have been crucified by the media and the fans, however he is a Liverpool player and it was considered to be just unlucky. Such is the life of a footballer playing for an unfashionable team like Palace. COYP

Can't believe you are comparing Benteke to Firmino ? Think Firmino has done enough this season to forgive him that miss .But Benteke?

Hugely unfair (and inaccurate.) When fit, Sakho's by far our most talented CB. Just been unlucky with fitness the last little while. IMO.

He's not scored at Anfield in the PL this season. But he is part Of a functioning front 3 attack, who as a whole scores plenty of goals. Within this, Firmino chips in from time to time with both goals and assists. Benteke is the Main Striker in a misfiring front three who has only scored once in about 25 years, and I'd wager his assist rate is equally as prolific.

For avoidance of doubt my comments were not a denunciation of Firmino as a player, I was just providing a statistic which is quite remarkable given the qualities of the player. Firmino does not possess that extra burst of pace but his workrate is exceptional and he is a vital cog in the Liverpool machine. Edited by Willo (26 Feb 2020 10.38am)

So during his 138 weeks with us to date, we've paid him £16.5 million. That's without accounting for signing on fees, contract renewal fees, agent fees, appearance bonuses, goal bonuses, etc.
