Moral, ethical and social judgement – absolutely. Being held to account is the absolute minimum for any public figure Those judgements are a moveable feast. For one generation sexual promiscuity was reprehensible but for the next was accepted. Now it seems the wheel has turned again. Criminal behaviour must be punished but morality is subjective.

I think it's perfectly valid to criticise that, it's an increasing negative for society the higher that subset of people is. In fact social media has enabled a situation that has worsened that particular situation but that's another thread. The point is about legality. In my view any social liberals are hypocrites to criticise Brand for a promiscuous lifestyle as they 'celebrate' and encourage diverse lifestyles. But then are keen to criticize the negative outcomes of them when the cause and affect has always been obvious to anyone willing to connect dots....it's hardly new knowledge. I'll repeat my view that if shagging 16 year olds is morally wrong...then why is it legal? Personally I agree that significant age differences of males shagging 16 year olds is just wrong. So I'd ask why doesn't the law reflect that? Social liberals need to pressurise for a change in the law, social conservatives would back them on that. Or raise the age of consent, whatever it is. However, being happy with the law but then shaming people who take advantage of it seems very much like having a cake and eating it too.

Further speaking to the opinion that Brand just isn't important enough for any political action to be taken against him....that committee letter pretty much knocks that out of the park....but there's more that illustrates that it's not all just about ethics but far more than that. There are several situations like this but to speak of one on Youtube there is a rapper called Tory Lanez. This guy shot a woman in the feet all while telling her to 'dance, bitch'. It isn't an allegation, no it was proven in court and he was convicted to ten years in jail. He has a Youtube channel and it's monetised. Yet we are asked to believe that they aren't out to get Brand and that despite him being how he was for decades with nothing done, it's all just organic. Edited by Stirlingsays (22 Sep 2023 4.18pm)

Edited by Stirlingsays (22 Sep 2023 4.18pm) YouTube's position does not make sense. At least Rumble's position whether you agree or disagree with it does. Rumble told the MPs committee to get stuffed citing freedom of speech. YouTube's position is "We are shocked by these allegations so we will stop RB earning any money, but we wont take down his videos". In other words the only people earning money out of this is YouTube as people view RB's content to find out what the fuss is about and presumably then go on to watch other non RB content. If your wondering what that smell is it's BS and hypocrisy. If they had banned his content that at least is a logical position.

I saw Emily Maitlis interview about her interview with Brand and thought it interesting. Here it is:- I bet at least one poster here won’t enjoy the idea that he might have been groomed.

as far as i can see : Russell Brand, and anybody else, can shag EVERYTHING and drop nuclear weapons on cities. All fine and dandy. So long as they do not speak out against the Mainstream ideology of the Culture War...... - LGBTQ+ - Climate change - Refugees are welcome - abortion, eugenics, high welfare for single mums,

When does anybody speak in favour of these things? Speaking out about prejudice against them isn’t the same thing at all. Originally posted by PalazioVecchio

So long as they do not speak out against the Mainstream ideology of the Culture War...... - LGBTQ+ You might find positive statements in specialist magazines but in the mainstream only expressions of a need for tolerance. - Climate change Is real and as the biggest issue facing humanity needs to be discussed positively. - Refugees are welcome Only when legal and needed. Tolerance, care and human kindness is though to be positively encouraged. - abortion, eugenics, high welfare for single mums, Abortion divides opinion, so no one will ever be satisfied. No one promotes eugenics in the MSM. No one promotes higher than necessary welfare for anyone. iIn short this is a load of bs Edited by Wisbech Eagle (22 Sep 2023 6.09pm)
