If one accepts the argument that Vieira has not been fully backed in the transfer market, the question then becomes has he got the best out of our available resources.
For me the jury is out.
We have all observed the playing of square of square pegs in round holes, the ponderous build up from the back which is so easy for the opposition to contain, the lack of tactical in game changes and the poor work off the ball which appears to be tolerated.
Vieira appears to be likeable, seems to popular with the players and in many ways is a very good fit for Palace.
However, it’s all about results and he has to be able to demonstrate he can take us forward and make the necessary improvements.
At the moment it would difficult to argue that we are moving forward as a team.

Its not as simple, as just saying being financed properly and throwing money at everything. Everton tried that, West Ham tried that and both have been frequent visitors to the relegation zone. How much money have spent since Ferguson left about £1.2 billion, only now with a decent manager are they getting back to where they were.

Judging by the achievements of Messrs Mourinho and Van Gaal their record in management is highly commendable. They did not become bad managers as a result of their time at Man Utd.
It never worked out for Ancelotti at Everton and he is another manager with a long-list of achievements.

Some will of have an alternative viewpoint but what I would assert about Lanzo is that he is consistent and unequivocal in his messaging and is sticking to it akin to 'Wrigleys' on a 'Jimmy Choo'.

Ah but he’s not though.

He said in a reply to me that neither he nor I knew if PV was a good manager, but that “ time would tell “.

I did find that strange as he’s clearly already made his mind up

So Painter,
Do you not agree that we have players who need upgrading ?
This, would need funding but not necessarily 'as simple as throwing money about' !

Look at Nottingham forest joined us, in the table, this year we are in a relegation battle and that it hard to believe, the writing has been on the wall last couple of seasons, spending has been dismissal for new players, trying to stay in the Premier league on the cheap, if not this season will happen next season,

I have to smile, Chelsea have spent all those millions & bought in another 8 players this window (or is it 9) & still there are clickbait articles almost every day saying that they must buy this player at 30 / 40 / 50 million because he is the answer to their problem(s) - IDK if they have spent 500 million & still have problems to solve that only buying more players will solve then we are really up a creek without a paddle

I think you know my thoughts, He is by far the worst manager since Holloway, and will take us down.

You dont seem to understand, Vieira doesnt buy the players, Freeman does. Its the same at every other Premier club.

How would you of spent the money, 15 new players have been brought in since June 21.

Do you seriously think Viera has no input into who we buy.

A decision was made at the end of Hodgsons tenure to change our policy of buying expensive has players in their late 20s early 30s and buy young players with potential, £126m has been spent since June 21 with very little in return from transfers out. It was generally accepted there would be a transitional period, Vieira did better than expected in his first season and expected continual improvement, its not that easy.
Every supporter of any team would say they have players that need upgrading.
