Yes, one point above us having played a game more.

Their net outlay on transfers is - £42m.

I agree that Frank is a decent manager but see no justification for wanting him in and Vieira out.

Fair enough, your opinion is as relevant as everybody else's

So you would employ Frank if he oversaw a relegation and get rid of a manager that kept his club up ? Have I got hold of the wrong end of the stick here ?

TBH I hadn't even considered that.

My notion was more based around the possibility of acquiring him and not hypothetically football related!

I think it fair to add I am as of yet wholly unconvinced by any 'Vieira out' campaign.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

It’s surprising to see rumblings about our current manager surfacing but l think there is a bigger problem.
Mr Parish is keen to say things along the lines of you shouldn’t stand still in the Premier League yet at the moment he seems to prefer to lap up more publicity over the academy TV programme & redeveloping the main stand, while the depth of the playing squad is not improving, still playing Luka, Ayew & Ward & carrying a player like Riedewald who even in Doucoure’s absence, is not trusted to play.
A bigger main stand will not be so useful should our 10 year stay in this division end this year and currently no-one from the academy has been blooded into the starting line up.

To be fair, the Academy and the New Stand are the only things he can reasonably talk about at the moment.

Come January he may share what, if anything, we have as a transfer budget.

Having such an Academy does not guarantee a stream of players ready for the first team, it does given the club a better chance of attracting talent that has been lost to other clubs in the past.

We are starting to see some of the youngsters being included in matchday squads which is good for their development.

Clearly emotions are high at the moment but calling for the manager's head is IMHO a knee jerk reaction all to common in football these days. We are Palace not Watford.

Personally i could see Saturday's result and performance coming and this was confirmed when i saw the team sheet.

Without Doucoure i knew we would have issues in midfield.
I think the 'experiment' with Olise in midfield was worth a try at home but wasn't really working (we looked much better v Leeds when he switched 2nd half with Ayew), so it would be madness to try it away from home.
For the last few games it has become apparent that the midfield 3 are not working. Eze is a 'luxury' player so the other 2 need to be provide a stable foundation. This has not been happening and other teams are controlling this part of the pitch, regardless of the result.

On Saturday with Luka's lack of mobility it was clear we needed a 2nd more defensive player alongside him - probably Hughes (if properly recovered from illness) or Jairo assuming Jeff was considered as not having the discipline for the role. The team selected was unacceptable.

In PV's defence the squad is threadbare in a number of positions.
Jairo and Luka are highly paid and not up to the job - SP must take some responsibility for giving them long and lucrative contracts. Losing Macca to injury was poorly timed but these things happen to every team - the loss of Gallagher was always going to hurt as he uniquely fitted our system.

Even after say a poor game v Leicester and playing a few days later PV only made 1 change, i think Wolves made 4. The defence, for all its faults, basically picks itself.

With the world cup only a few weeks away there is no need to panic. We need to pick up say a minimum of 4 points from these 3 games. This is achievable. In the month off hopefully players such as Macca and Richards can get fit to provide some competition. Players such as Mitchell and Guehi (if not picked for the WC) maybe need a week or 2 off the recharge their batteries.
PV can do some formation work on the training ground and worse case when they start playing again on Boxing day the Jan window is only a week away. Dougie should be focusing on this now.

We all know the personnel issues we have. What I cannot understand is why we let Kouyate go after offering a one year but not wanting to give a 2 year contract. He was the perfect short term partner for Doucoure (and slightly longer term, adequate cover for central defence).

To move Kouyate on, lose Gallagher and not replace either was a big mistake, particularly so given that McArthur has been injured on and off for a couple of seasons and we are clearly suffering because of it.

Can you imagine what a dreadful state we would be in if Doucoure picks up a serious injury. It would be scary starting week in and out with the currently available midfielders.

McArthur made 18 and 21 appearances respectively in the last two seasons. It would have been naive for the club to think that he would have made a major contribution this season. This, and releasing Kouyate leads me to suspect that the rational was that either we had enough to eke out another season with a bare squad, or there was nothing in the transfer kitty, or they were truly hoping to secure Gallagher. Just getting the one player over the line in a key position smacks of incompetence. How many number 10 type players does a team need?

I think there are included to make up the numbers, if they were any good they would be playing or earning their wings out on loan to lower league team!

Ebiowei did come off the bench on Saturday for the last 15-20 minutes so not just making up the numbers.

I never knew as I couldn't stomach watching past two nil. Suddenly, I knew how Sunderland fans used to feel.

Yes, I noticed that, on for about 20 mins in total including added time, not from our academy though ex Chelsea/Rangers/Arsenal made 16 appearances for Derby in Championship 1 goal scored. Saturday stats 7 touches, 2 passes( 1 giving the ball away!) and 1 tackle, let's hope he can improve as we certainly need something to happen!

Doucoure will be back; everyone from the field mice to Parish knows we need midfield help; and Vieira is staying put until another club steals him.

The big question – raised by everyone, everywhere – is what will happen with Wilf? And I'm certain it's a much greater concern to Steve, Dougie and PV than it is to even the most fanatical supporter.
