I don’t think we’re a million miles apart on how we view this, and certainly I don’t ‘blame’ Joe for the position we’re in. But I also don’t think Joe is absolved of personal responsibility as a result, and the resistance a lot of people like Joe have to green movements is nonsensical beyond not liking being told what to do. You’re right that we’re very limited in our capacity as individuals to do anything significant, and so when our government introduce societal level changes to help, you’d think the population would be receptive to that… but they are not. People want to ‘help’ in principle, but not at the expense of their own luxuries or convenience. Luxuries and convenience mmm. Can you explain what these are in most peoples lives? Or if it’s so important to prevent imminent frying of us why arnt the green solutions given away.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

This kinda sums up the issues with renewables. Everybody wants them as long as it is built somewhere else.

Yup, that darned climate change. If this is in Greece then I would say globally the fires are primarily man made by arson. Hot weather isn’t exceptional it’s just decades apart and 50 years ago maybe the arsonists weren’t around.

Not going to happen. Aircraft manufacturers are working on making their planes greener you would hope by 2050 that they are. And if they are not we'll no doubt plant a few more trees. Edited by Badger11 (25 Aug 2023 7.54am)

Edited by Badger11 (25 Aug 2023 7.54am) And then cut the trees down to make more runways The thing is, political divides and commercial systems have exacerbated the situation. A coherent global strategy is needed, but political and financial divides mean this won't ever happen. Climate protesters have as much of a clue how to resolve the situation as any politician. And for all their bluster and self-promotion, they are all just pl55ing in the wind.

Mayor Khan with his fleet of Range Rovers, Sunak, King Charles and every Hollywood celebrity flying all over the place lecturing the rest of us and the Greens against everything and for nothing. Especially with Environment Summits, politicians flying all over the place in Business Class and in top Hotels. 4WD chauffeured vehicles and food flown from far and wide, so the Upper classes can tell the voters how to live their lives. The sad thing is, that Climate Change Protesters actually think their actions will have any effect whatsoever.
