I haven't read the whole thread but saw James Corden's speech and thought it was worth reposting - he hits the nail on the head about the ESL here:
Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping. Hubert Reeves |

A passionate delivery, even if nobody in the audience knew what the hell he was talking about. Don't know how often his show goes out, but I'd like to see the next one, because here he thinks the ESL will definitely happen.

We have a coeffient system, which while isn't perfect, has the right idea. Teams who achieve in their own leagues still get rewarded by a place in the top european competition. by making the CL a league of fewer teams, rather than smaller groups with more overall teams, you should get consistently get the games the world wants to see. How about FA Cup winners into CL and League Cup winners into Europa, these traditional competitions have been devalued over the years, let’s get them back

Can’t understand why Spurs were involved, they are hardly a top 6 side. Not won anything in nearly 40 years and average Premier league position is 8th. Even ruined Mourinihos record of winning a trophy at every club he has managed. Edited by Painter (22 Apr 2021 1.19pm) They have a sparkling new stadium, that’s it! Haven’t sold naming rights yet, I sincerely hope they are completely f***ed financially

Unfortunately his US audience have bee brought up on exactly the concept that the ESL are trying to introduce

Edited by Painter (22 Apr 2021 1.19pm) Furthermore Tottenham have only twice been champions of England, and that was when football was still played in black and white. 1950/51 and 1960/61 ie SIXTY years ago.

Look at the clubs who’ve won the title since Tottenham. Apart from the “Big” however many - Ipswich, Derby, Everton, Leeds, Forest, Villa, Blackburn & Leicester.

British Super League And we're back... Well it didn't take long as I predicted talk of Celtic and Rangers joining the PL. For now I don't think this has legs as the cowardly six will keep their head down. However this is not going to go away they will chance their arm in the future unless there is proper governance of football either by the FA or an independent regulator.

Another twist & financial ramifications . . .
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
