No one can say for sure . But as he doesn’t hold the purse strings ,he can only , take what’s left after , all financial ,and other requirements have been covered . It’s clear he probably has the last say on what he ends up getting offered , if that is at the bottom of his original list , he has to maintain a squad that has a chance. .
What doesn’t happen is he goes to the directors and says .Give me fifty mill, because I have this cripple I can sign . Or even give me fifty mill for three players I want.

With Allardyce we were looking relegation certs so we were willing to pay big money and gamble on our PL status and it paid off.

There’s no urgency now under Roy as it’s a case of do nothing and finish 14th or sign some players and finish 9th. There’s nothing on line. If we’re in a relegation scrap come the January transfer window, I’m sure the board will magic some money from somewhere.

I think we will flirt with relegation unless 3 or 4 players come in. We have a small ageing squad prone to injury. So new recruits are essential
