Liverpool offered £4m, Chelski wanted £12m and apparently a tribunal came up with an undisclosed figure between the two. It’s simple player ‘farming’. Big clubs hoard talented kids & talk them up as the next big thing which increases their perceived value leading to smaller clubs taking a gamble on them at inflated fees. If they then go on to develop into their full potential the bigger club can simply buy them back, albeit at an even bigger cost. The ratio of success means they generally end up better off due to the sheer number that don’t make it & have none of the development costs/hassle in the meantime. or put in a sell on clause and make some cash.

We move in the direction of our thoughts. |

look at all the numbers being thrown around its madness. we need to forget signing any striker at all and promote the best young attacking prospect we have to the 1st team matchday squad as of todays game. otherwise whats the point in investing all this money into the academy!

I agree but does Roy? We’d still have Ward at right-back had it not been for injuries.

Built into the loan agreement? just read the below on tue indipendant “ On that same theme Crystal Palace had some fitness concerns in relation to Dominic Solanke and pulled out of signing the forward this week because Liverpool were against the idea of linking part of the loan fee to appearances.”

We’d still have Ward at right-back had it not been for injuries. but unless soroth or wickham go out on loan or ayew goes back to swansea then were effectivly signing a 4rd backup striker for big ben. weve gone all season without a scoring striker and we are doing ok, and not going to get relegated. seeming as we dont have money to throw around on a whim like others,we may aswell gauge how ben & connor look with minutes under their belt and re-assess in the summer.
