You don't have to feel guilty. And it's not about slavery, although obviously that is extremely important to recognise in a historical context.

It's about recognising that it's tougher for black people in general compared to white people. There have been several on this thread who have talked of their own crappy upbringings and making a decent life for themselves despite of that. That's brilliant and no one is taking that away from anyone. What people didn't also have against them was anything further holding them back because of the colour of their skin. I do not believe that many people are consciously racist - it is more something is more ingrained in society.

Confirmation bias is a very real thing when it comes to making a selection. People are naturally more likely to favour someone that looks like them, speaks like them, thinks like them etc. This is where the system is rigged against the non-white members of people living in a society that is largely governed by, big business run by, and have influential figures of society are largely white.

For all those saying 'All Lives Matter', you will not find one person that disagrees with you, but you are very much missing the point, whether purposely or not. All lives will not matter until black lives also matter, until Asian lives also matter, until everyone matters equally.

When you see what is happening on the news, when a black person is maltreated, really challenge your currently held believes and ask yourself 'would the same really happen to a white person?'. If you can consciously look yourself in a mirror and say yes then fine, that's the decision you have come to. But just try and put yourself in the shoes of people that have to live with the treatment that has been dished out to George Floyd and the many others.

This whole Antifa thing has somehow passed me by, i would say i have a keen interest in politics and have heard of Antifa but never took the time to look them up and see what they are about.I"m guessing that these football lads marches and the like, where one can assume have a large majority of more right wing thinking people, actually love the Antifa chaps to turn out, and as much as they hate them, would be disappointed if a march down park lane on to trafalgar square didn"t have the added buzz of the Antifa pincer movement in the side streets!
