The rate at which we’ve been shipping squad players out and freeing up squad players wages suggests there might be something in this and Sako. Back up wingers are needed and whilst I’d prefer young prospects for the future both Yala and Sako provide us with the reassurance that they are more than capable when fit and as popular previous members of the dressing room will add something to the group. We’ve got limited funds so a deal for both would make a great deal of sense to me.

Not sure either would accept the role of back up and also the wages both would want would not be wages for reserve players. If we do resign Sako my only hope is that it would be for a lot less money than we offered/he demanded in the summer.

Might not be such a bad move especially if the worst was to happen and Wilf moved on...

Not the same player that we sold. The injury has robbed him of his pace. Don't know why we are even considering it.

We all know what this player is capable of achieving and can be a proven menace in attack. Can't help but think that back playing with his former teaming mates and under a firm but fair manager that his game could get back to what he is capable of producing. It's not as if we are awash with players banging on the door to get into Selhurst anyway. I see major reciprocal benefits taking on Yannick but not at previous sell on fee.

Have to look at this in the same way as BakSak. It would be great if by years long careful recruitment and development we had built a deep squad filled with attacking intent. We haven’t managed that. Given that fact getting in Sako and Bolasie is fair business as Yala would be a loan and the other is a short term deal. We are 11/8 with Ladbrokes to get him in. Footballers often talk about their happiest times and periods and clubs where things just didn’t work out. Get him back with his good mate Zaha and let’s see if the old headless chicken can still scare defenders in the red and blue.

We are in a funny situation re strikers as with Wickham and benteke coming back at the same time, and Ayew in the mix we currently are ok. If everyone stays fit we maybe are ok. It’s a big IF though. The Solanke deal would have been good, but you have to wonder if our famous scattergun/dart board approach to recruitment has meant we now aren’t suddenly looking for a striker. Changing tack light that mid window would be quintessential parish. Don’t count out sneaky Steve to sign a clapped out frontman on deadline day though on a Kevin Doyle/adebayor kind of vibe.
