So basically we have to pander to oversensitive people if they are Black irrespective of whether what we say is actually 'racist'. Is there anything else while we are at it? Maybe just engage brain before resuming your stand up act at work might help.

Essentially yeah....that's the world they want. You were born a white male.....watch your step boy, it's history pay back. No thanks.

But it appears she or anyone else didn't have a choice on what they hear unlike in most professional workplaces. That kind of comment would've followed with silence from all in earshot. I can't think of many places where what he said would be normal. Self employed builders who could just get another job tomorrow on a building site maybe. The bus depot? Possibly if joker knew how it would be taken. Possibly not, and get the reaction you weren't expecting. Normal! Just listen to yourself. Have you ever read 1984? I'm all for appropriate speech.....but this is loony cake with walnuts for cherries. She chose to take offence from this and she has been rewarded....by the FA, by parliament and by people with your views. As for me, take your opinions about what other people can and can't say and.....well, tell it to someone else because I'm sick of this PC horsesh1t.

Must remember to try his line in a similar way when next meeting friends of friends, whether in a rowdier bar type atmosphere or standing in someone's home. Doesn't matter who is the recipient. Sure to go down a storm. I'm sure my phone number would be in high demand and invitations from the close friends and others there are sure to come rolling in. Not sure why you don't hear it more often. Everyone's missing a comedic opportunity.

That she maybe but I also wouldn't be surprised if I was hauled up for it by someone who was genuinely offended because straight after saying I would've wished I just didn't. Nothing to be gained from saying it or even that funny, so why open yourself up? Brain wasn't engaged because a lot of time in changing rooms, it isn't. It's the England football team, not the Sunday pub team and it looks pretty obvious she's not from the background that would be used to it or feel she should be.

It's called being a human being and not a robot. If multi culture means we all have to behave like robots, well white people anyway, then that is one more reason to reject it.

I also reject the idea that's it's ok because women were somehow disadvantaged in the past....a 'sins of the fathers' argument. I have no respect for these edicts. I suspect that you use very different language and behaviour in the classroom than you do in other walks of life, because you are a professional in a working environment. I do, why, because its a professional working environment - I try to avoid swearing, making jokes about serial killers and offensive comments that I think can be funny, because its not professional. Same applies here, the bloke is employed to do a professional job, and seems to think that includes a bit of knocking off his employees, making jokes related to peoples family and country of origin. Kind of more that precedent in law tends to favour history of cases, rather than oh well men in the past. People are still judged, based on evidence of a case, and the criteria. As such, history of sexual harassment cases and the precedent, tends to be built on cases where women have experienced harassment and abuse, because of that's what the cases have been about - harassment, abuse and sexual offences against women, by men. History doesn't do clean sheets, no matter how much you think it should, its a continual process. The criminality of the past ignored, is often born by the next generation solely because previous generations got away with so much for so long.
