Nice posts by Rudi, Laddo, etc. I'm sorry but if I were Ian J, Syd etc I would be slightly embarrassed reading back on some of the rubbish that has been spouted. Syd, as I alluded to on another thread, most of your posts seem to be made in an attempt to alleviate your own insecurities (and I feel bad pointing them out but wading through them is so tiresome). In much the same way that those bullied at school often become nightclub doormen or policemen in an effort to get some power back, your constant bashing of Steve Parish while at the same time finding ways to sneak in your own modest achievements smacks of someone who is desperately insecure. The club is in a great position and is being run well. Now that you've mentioned it I am slightly embarrassed reading back on some of the rubbish that has been spouted. As an example your post makes no attempt whatsoever to discuss any issues as you prefer to have a dig at the posters instead in much the same way that those who did poorly at school often become internet keyboard warriors in an effort to get some self esteem
I should also add that my posting isn't made in an effort to build my own self-esteem. Imo the club is in great shape and works better when it's fans are getting behind it and all pulling in more or less the same direction. When the board feel the need to reply in threads such as the one on BBS to quell rumours like this, they are in part responding to people like you and Syd. I would go as far as to say that Syd's issues with Parish seem to go so far that he would probably be pleased if the wheels fell off completely. I certainly wouldn't have the patience to reply to these "supporters".

We can all still support the club whilst holding a variety of different opinions on various Palace related matters and indeed many would appreciate that we have such a diverse range of opinions. There are many that slavishly lap up every word uttered by the management and others (like myself) who are more cynical There will always be rumours as we live in an age that seemingly thrives on trivia and gossip and the internet allows those rumours and stories to spread far quicker than in the old days. The Palace senior management like to keep their cards very close to their chests and there is nothing wrong with that but they also frequent the social media sites like Twitter and internet forums where they have their chance to right some of the wrongs that are being passed around. No-one expects them to divulge who they are talking to but when rumours start that have some credibility to them like the fact that Tony Pulis has a poor working relationship with his board all it takes is two minutes of someone's time to issue an unequivocal denial on either the BBS or Twitter and that would kill the matter stone dead straight away.

Well in terms of specific issues, I think the main one was raised a few pages back but didn't get much of a reply. It's along the lines of "what do you do about potential new players on 40-50k per week who want 3-4 year deals and aren't interested in taking a wage drop should we get relegated?". If you look back through the thread you should be able to find it, was quoted a few times. With regard to personal attacks on me, I really couldn't care less. Anyone who has nothing better to do than try to psychoanalyse someone they haven't even met is not the sort of person I'm going to lose sleep over. So whatever. Ian J is right though; it says more about you than it does about me. With regard to your question above, the answer is so blindingly obvious it's painful. Fulham have been in our situation, taken the risk, and they're now in nearly their tenth year in the Premiership. West Ham have been in our situation, taken the risk, gone down and come back up again. West Brom have been in our situation, taken the risk, gone down and come back up again. Stoke have been in our situation, taken the risk, and like Fulham they're still here. And so it goes on. The only sides who disappear into obscurity never to return are those who don't play by Premiership operating standards. Risk, for the 9 millionth time, is something you try to mitigate, not to avoid. Taking a risk on a SMALL NUMBER OF KEY PLAYERS (which is all any of us has asked for) is not a stupid thing to do. It's a prudent thing to do. As the state of all the above mentioned clubs implies. You've got your answer and without so much as a personal insult in sight. Happy now?

We are all supporters and all we can really do at the end of the day, is just that... Support. I am a very regular reader of this board for many years but rarely log in to make a post - so thank you at least for being antagonistic enough to get me to put aside 5mins to engage.

The main question still remains though, how do we get around players who want more than our budget will allow, and who aren't prepared to take a wage drop in the event we get relegated? It would be interesting to take a survey of the fans advocating we spend beyond our means if we were to get relegated with a wage bill we couldn't afford. Even if we could afford the wages, some of the players in question are hardly worth it! Scott Danns/Steven Taylor as our highest earner... enough to give me nightmares.

Ok I will leave the personal attacks out... you may have noticed though that I am not the first person you have managed to rile up. In terms of mitigating our risk, without being involved behind the scenes I could only guess as to what X amount of extra wages for 3 years would do to us as opposed to Y amount. Out of the players we have been linked with recently, who would you have been happy for us to take a risk on? Off the top of my head I can think of Crouch, Jelavic, Long, Danns, Taylor, Sissoko. Obviously we assume that all of of those (or anyone else I have missed) would have agreed to join our club for a certain wage.

I applauded CPFC2012 for joining HOLand BBS at the start of their tenure and one only has to ask why they no longer post on here and only the BBS. However, the question has to be asked is it worth them doing it? If they don't say anything, they get accused of all sorts of mis management and lack of skill, if they do, its the same - it's worse than having a row with the mrs! Take a read of any one of the multiple "they should do this not that" threads and you'd think you had stumbled into the League Managers posting forum with all the knowledgable advice thatsbeing spewed forth. To be honest, its depressing to read and i'd not blame any of them if they just didn't bother telling us anything. Just let them get on with what they are doing.

I don't know the answer but it would be useful to have a rough idea of what the budget was. It is a source of annoyance to many that we have a limited budget but so much of it was blown speculatively on Dwight Gayle when so many of us were calling for Premiership experience. If we are looking at someone who won't take a wage drop if we get relegated we need to make sure that the individual is readily saleable in the event that we do go down which is why I would be happy to pass on the likes of Peter Crouch as we may not be able to unload him if necessary but would be happy to spend a large amount together with high wages on someone who can score the goals to enable us to win games but would be saleable if the worst was to happen. Jordan Rhodes would be my suggestion

Got to love your patronizing tone in that people who support the board and trust that they have the clubs best interest at heart are some how 'slavish', while implying your cynical attitude is intellectually superior.
