I don't want to get relegated but this irrational fear of league 1 is pathetic. Norwich, Leeds, Leceister and to a greater extent Man City prove life goes on if a team suffers such a blow! Look at the big picture people and allow our next manager to BUILD a team by giving him time!

Malky Mackay is now in the general area of 1/4-1/5 for the Burnley job, which I know Howe was also strongly linked to in the last week or so.... It seems that if Howe goes anywhere in the immediate future it will be to us. Victor C have Howe as 75% chance to join us in their current market. This isn't a fair reflection though and will based on liabilities. The fact they are happy to re-open the market and lay him at 1.33 shows you this is far from a done deal and I personally wouldn't touch the odds with a barge pole.

Out of Burnley, Preston and us, we are favourites for Howe based on our geographical position - he can feasibly commute. However, I'm going to make a prediction - he's going to stay with Bournemouth. He's spent most of his adult life at the club, he's worshipped - he's not going to give it up to join a struggling yo-yo club with a history of sacking managers. I'd love to be proved wrong, though...

I have a feeling it would need to be one hell of a sales job to get him to join us. I have a gut feeling he will stay put as they are his lifelong love, the only thing that may alter this is his relationship with their chairman and having to sell players.

If he wasn't interested, I don't think he'd have bothered being interviewed.

If he wasn't interested, I don't think he'd have bothered being interviewed. I think this is the oldest mistake in the book, and it amazes me how many people think this way (my comment here is not about Eddie Howe or football in particular.) Cuck -- a job interview -- and I have been involved in many, both as applicant and employer, is a TWO WAY PROCESS. It is NOT for the employer to decide if he wants to hire the applicant. It is also for the applicant to learn about the job and organisation and decide if he wants to work for them. Eddie Howe will absolutely have been interested in learning more about the Palace opportunity and that's why he will have gone to the interview. But he may have left the interview thinking "I wouldn't work for that club/that chairman if my life depended on it." Going to an interview merely demonstrates an interest in improving your situation. It does not demonstrate that you want the job you're interviewing for. This is an important point (and anyone going to a job interview would do well to remember it. An interview is a 50/50 exchange; NOT a one way street.)

Luckily we no longer have the "I wouldn't work for that club/that chairman if my life depended on it." chairman and now have someone more reasonable. At the same time the Bournemouth chairman seems to go out of his way to p*ss-off Howe. I personally think that he has got to the stage where he thinks that enough is enough. He has taken AFC Bournemouth as far as he can if the cdhairman keeps selling his best players from under him.
