But wasn’t it Parish that said “ fans shouldn’t be satisfied with standing still, we need to progress” having said that the same bloke said “ I don’t understand the fans fascination with bringing ex-players back to the club” The club has steadily progressed. The club is greater than just the first team. Hundreds of people work and are directly involved with the club, it’s academy, selhurst park and training facilities. All have improved and have grown stronger since 2010. Only idiots like Spider-Man writing on the homesdale blog was say it’s about nothing but first team results. w***er !

I completely agree...the club has and does get bigger and better most years and I’m very proud of what the club has achieved. I’m of the opinion that we could in the future push on and be a big club...but that the chances of spending 10 years in the championship is perhaps a bigger possibility. The club has to avoid that at all costs.

What an infantile response. I haven’t said it’s all about first team results but just quoted Steve Parish. I am as proud if the team/club nearly as much now that at anytime in 60 years of supporting them. First promotion to 1st Division in 1969 beats it Edited by Spiderman (13 Oct 2020 12.48pm)

Tuesday today and the deadline is 5pm on Friday, meaning only three remaining days of this nonsense and then we can concentrate on more important things, like trying to get above that 30% possession threshold. Any one of Sarr, Benrahma or Buendia would be superb though I'm already resigned to getting none of them. We could also definitely do with another defender and, although I already realise what the reaction to this will be, I think we could do worse than Phil Jones on loan. Despite all the mistakes and gurning, I reckon there's still a talented and experienced player in there. Get his confidence up and he could be a shrewd loan, plus he can play multiple positions. Edited by Canterbury Palace (13 Oct 2020 3.17pm) Whether that's correct or not we can no longer sign PL players, even on loan. No real noise coming out of any reputable channels, only an echo coming from The Sun re: Sarr, which just seems like reaching (even if I wish we are going to come in for him). I'm expecting Clyne to be announced as signed on Friday on a short-term deal and that to be it, with Innis and possibly one or two other youth/fringe players going out on loan.

Edited by Canterbury Palace (13 Oct 2020 3.17pm) Phil Jones is with Man Utd so this will not be possible. A domestic-only window has been added from 5 October, closing at 5pm BST on 16 October. During this window, PL clubs will only be able to trade with EFL clubs (either loans or permanent registrations). No transfers can take place between PL clubs in this period.

Amazing that it still doesn't rule out the three top level forwards mentioned though who you would assume clubs would be scrambling to buy.

Edited by Canterbury Palace (13 Oct 2020 3.17pm) Earlier in the window I did think about Jones being a decent loan when we were having a CB crisis. He'd be a decent CB for a midtable team. Trouble is his wages are probably bonkers and he'll likely see out his contract as a figure of ridicule for United. Anyway not even an option now. A young talented CB is hopefully on our list for the next window... nothing seemed to materialise about that Bella-Kotchap fella. I expect Clyne will be our only remaining signing... if any others arrive I'll be shocked but pleasantly surprised.

Jones only played in 2 PL games last season, the last of which was back in January this year.He has been injury prone in his career.
