A long but what I thought was an interesting read - and as it's long there's plenty to agree and disagree with A critical response: The author's reply:

It's a fair point. My point would be more along the lines of why fund them at all anymore? There are loads of countries criticising Trump right now - probably because that stance does well on social media. I agree. It's the same elitist job creation scheme that often operates at the top. They all do it.

You are hoping for a challenge. It wont happen. Trump wouldn't be the first con man to have become very wealthy but there is some serious doubt that he really is that wealthy. He is highly leveraged and with so much of his "empire" in hotels and golf courses, neither of which are going to generate much income for a while, things could easily get very sticky. Whilst I can agree that the line between madness and genius can be thin, Trump is no genius. You really don't have to be very clever to work out what he is all about. He makes very little effort to hide it. That humorous summary a few posts ago was spot on and summed him up beautifully. I am no more qualified to offer a professional opinion on Trump's mental state than anyone else is here. It ought not be done without an examination anyway. However, more than almost anyone else he offers himself up to observation by way of his public persona. My granddaughter is a mental health professional and her opinion is the same as mine. It isn't just me that questions his mental health. There are many in the USA who do too. The American Psychiatric Association, going against their ethical guidelines, felt compelled to openly question it. Him behaving as he is now is a very real concern and an additional and unnecessary problem for other world leaders to have to deal with. Those who defend him really do need to stop and think a little bit harder.

Perhaps to provide a comparison or prediction of what's to come for the UK these were the measures announced this evening in Germany: • It is strongly recommended to wear masks in public transporation and supermarkets • School will be gradually open from May 4th. Students going to high school (level a) next year will be the first ones coming to school. • The hair salon can be opened from May 4th when the disinfection/preventive measures are completed. • Religious meetings are still not allowed. Discussing how to resume. • Starting next week, shops (800m2 or smaller) can open when the disinfection/preventive measures are completed. • Cafe restaurant hotel shopping mall club remain closed • All public events, such as large-scale meetings and concerts are canceled by the end of August. • Abitur and mittlere reife tests will be held. Elementary school kindergarten remain closed. • new job offers in healthcare sector. More than 4,000 new employees • currently no solution for gastronomy industry / hotel industry except for shutdown • The kontaktsperre (you can meet up with only one person outside) will also stay like this. • Now,the next goal for the government is to keep the infection curve low and to keep track of all interpersonal infections in the community, and it is possible with Germany's current capabilities. Currently, one confirmed person makes an average of one new case. (Previously, one confirmed patient infected 3-4 on average.) If this number is maintained at 1.1, the German medical care system will reach its limit in September. when 1.2 in august. when 1.3 in june. So keeping this number at one or less is a very important goal. • Masks used in the community (masks made by individuals) have a negative effect if they are not cleaned every day. • The legal enforcement of the use of masks (such as punishment when not wearing) is out of discussion because there is not enough masks in the country • why the corona tracking app takes so long: It takes a long time, because Robert Koch institut must prove the effectiveness of this app and should be approved by the head of a institution where they take care of the personal information. but we are currently working on it*

Oh Dear. TDS at It's finest. When 42nd St was a rat infested drug den Trump had the audacity to transform that neighbourhood from what it was to what it is now. As I follow a number of Trump supporting groups and have several Trump supporting US friends I am very familiar with this attitude. I am only too aware of the divisions that exist in the USA and some of the reasons why they do. What disappoints me is to find them in the UK too. That you even mention "TDS" as if it's real only goes to prove to me just how vulnerable the Trump supporter is to his bs. I get that some people don't like globalism, international organisations and especially the UN, so want the WHO abandoned. I totally disagree but respect that other views exist. What I take issue with is Trump doing what Trump is now. It's such blatant politicing. When you are in a boat that's full of holes you want everyone baling, even those you dislike. You don't start making waves. This just isn't the time for divisive politics.
