Really though? Batshyai, Benteke, Wikcham, Ayew, Zaha ( now playing striker)....that's a lot of strikers. Agree about creative midfielders though. Although with Eze a nailed on started once he's up to speed and the talented Meyer and Riederwald still with plenty to offer, I don't think we're particularly weak there now. You were doing well till you said that.

I've nothing against him but he wasn't right and seems to have withdrawn. He may have knowledge but things change anyway. No certainties in football, particularly this season. How true has been a strange transfer window

He won’t be given the opportunity by a Roy to have a consistent run in the team to show what he can do anyway. Another just going through the motions until contact runs down. With another manager we may have seen something different but he has no chance under the current management team. Bye max

On paper, bringing 2 more players in gives us a very strong mid-table side in my opinion if we imagine we have no one injured (apart from the regulars). I've also offered Roy's opinion on the matter though....can't stand him! Mine: bring in Benrahma and sign up Clyne... Guaita
Guaita

Easy to be critical via a keyboard. Roy has done a fantastic job on an equivalent shoestring with an ageing squad that has been decimated by injuries for long periods under his tenure.

Bye max Meyer arrived with a bit of a 'Fanfare'. When one considers some of the players signed from abroad during the Hodgson reign, only Guaita has delivered. One could hardly assert that the likes of Meyer,Jach, Sorloth,Rakip have been positive influences at the club! But wasn’t it Parish that said “ fans shouldn’t be satisfied with standing still, we need to progress” having said that the same bloke said “ I don’t understand the fans fascination with bringing ex-players back to the club”

I wonder though, what is the alternative? Fighting for relegation every year is never going to be a pleasing state of play...but there are many many clubs bigger than Palace that have to make that a priority every season. It doesn’t mean that a priority of staying up can’t end with rewarding results. Our stadium is one of the oldest and needs major investment. We have all seen how difficult it has been for the club to progress the main stand project forward. Until Selhurst Park capacity is increased (and full for that matter) then we can’t expect to make much progress. The TV money just about covers wages. There is very little left of it to put towards growing the club. Teams like Everton, Wolves and Leicester are miles ahead of us in terms of the quality of the team and the money spent on it. They are also miles ahead when it comes to the structure of the club being there to aid growth...be it rich investors or quality stadiums. We have a good squad, one of the best squads I can remember even if it’s not the best team. It’s just enough to keep us going in a very competitive league...but I fear we are still a small club in the Prem and overachieving is rarely a regular occurrence for any small club. Burnley are the exception and when Dyche leaves them then you may see Burnley take a nose dive down the leagues.
